Scenic and varied hiking and running tour in Tecklenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia. Beautiful hike through the Teutoburg Forest (approx. 45 minutes by car from Hengelo). The route leads from the car park with a viewpoint, past the Bismarck Tower, into the Teutoburg Forest. The route follows the forest nature trail via narrow "climbing paths", forest paths and tarmac farm tracks to the forest outdoor pool. The route then leads through the spa gardens to the market square. The last section runs past the open-air theatre back to the car park. Although the route is not particularly long, you should be a good walker as some of the paths are very steep and narrow....

Cyclists: The route can still be followed by bike as far as the Bocketal valley. In the Teutoburg Forest, this is only possible with special bikes and in dry weather. Bus and train: Online search and timetables can be found at www.rvm-online.de The R20 bus (also 120, Ibbenbüren Bf. - Mettingen, Schultenhof) stops at the Laggenbecker Straße junction in Ibbenbüren. From Tecklenburg (here there is a sensible division of the route) various lines run to Westerkappeln and to the railway stations...
