Best trails near Grassauer Hütte

A stage with a thoroughly alpine character. At first it's a leisurely climb through mixed mountain forest - or you can take the Hochplatten lift - it soon becomes rocky and a bit exposed in parts. The Via Alpina runs below the Hochalpkopf and the rocky Raffen, before the small Steinlingalm invites you to rest. Panoramic circular hike to the Hochplatte and the Kampenwand. This strenuous mountain hike leads to several summits with great views. After a first short ascent, you pass the Oberauerbrunstalm, which is open at weekends and on fine days. The hike is characterised by wonderful panoramic views and highlights such as waterfalls and caves along the way.

Starting point: car park at the festival hall (620 m) First ascend towards Kampenwand in the forest until you reach a ski slope. Continue on this towards Hirschenstein, past it and to the Kampenwand cable car (1460 m). Pass the Sonnenalm and Kampenwandhütte (1500 m) to the Steinlingalm (1448 m). Continue past the eastern summit of the Kampenwand towards Hochalpenkopf to start the return journey from there.

From Marquartstein, head via the Grassauer Hütte to the south side of the Kampenwand. From there, you can continue towards the Kampenwandhütte; however, the route from the Kampenwand is no longer signposted with the 205.

This route is stage 19 of the Maximiliansweg, a long-distance trail through Germany, beginning at the Sonnenalm on the Kampenwand and ending at the Hochgernhaus. The path traverses the north flank of the Kampenwand past the Steinlingalm, crosses the ridge of the Piesenhausener Hochalm, and descends into Marquartstein via Niederfels. The tour starts in Übersee and leads to Rottau. From there it goes to the Steinlingalm directly below the Kampenwand. After a short break, past the small chapel, around the Kampenwand towards the Piesenhausener Hochalm. !!! Attention!!! On this section, the bike has to be carried most of the time (approx. 1.5 hours) and you have to overcome several metres in altitude on bumpy and washed-out paths. So it's not for beginners, but only for experienced mountain bikers.
