From Fellen, the trail heads toward the spa town of Bad Orb along parts of the old Donkey Trail. Long ago, donkeys carried salt along this path; today, it is a quiet space shaded by tall beech trees. Most of the way follows well-maintained forest tracks, though sturdy shoes are helpful for the distance. Near Bad Orb, visitors can see historic half-timbered houses and traditional meadows filled with cherry and apple trees. These meadows are great places to watch for songbirds and butterflies....
