The dam is used to supply drinking water to Annaberg-Buchholz and the surrounding area. An accessible path (500 metres) leads over the dam. Swimming and recreational sports are not permitted in the reservoir, but the wonderful forest air and the view of the dam on this circular route can be enjoyed. The route starts in Ostrov near the Ostrov Hotel. The route heads west from Ostrov and much of it runs along the border with Germany. The route goes through the Ore Mountains above the towns of Krupka, Dubí, Osek, Litvínov and many others. The route also passes by two large dams. They are about Fláje and Přísečnice. The end of the route is at the Klínovec ski resort.
