The Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide Nature Park is located off the beaten track in the largest contiguous forest area in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is home to some of the most beautiful clear water lakes in Central Europe, which provide a great habitat for white-tailed eagles, cranes and chattering grey geese. In addition to unforgettable nature observations, this sparsely populated area is also a wonderful place to watch the starry sky, as the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park is one of the regions with the least light pollution in Germany.

  1. #1 - Um den Bergsee Alt Gaarz

    Loop around the mountain lake starting in Alt Gaarz. After working up a sweat, you can refresh yourself at the bathing area. The mountain lake lies within the boundaries of the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. There are also plenty of opportunities to extend the route into the forest if you want a longer route.

    This relatively short route starts in Wooster-Teerofen, where there are places to camp, and explores the Paschensee nature reserve, which is located in the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide nature park. The trail is quite heavily wooded and offers views of the lake. The nature is quite unspoilt and not very busy.

    Relaxing hike in the Mildenitz Valley in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This 5 km circular trail starts near Dobbertin and is located in the beautiful Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide nature park. Suitable for both runners and walkers, part of the trail runs alongside the "Schwarzer See" lake and you can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere here. The starting point is reached again after about an hour. Worth seeing: Dobbertin Monastery (still used today as a deaconry)
