Best mountain biking trails in Jasmund National Park

The Jasmund National Park is located on the Jasmund peninsula in the north-east of the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The protected area stretches from Sassnitz in the south to Lohme in the north. It is famous for the largest chalk cliffs in Germany, the Königsstuhl, which rise 118 metres into the air, and a 500-metre-wide area of the Baltic Sea directly in front of the beach.

With an area of 3,070 hectares, the national park is the smallest national park in Germany and is characterised by its chalk-white cliffs and beech forests. These quaint old beech forests in the heart of the national park have been recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The forests partly enclose moors and springs. Many partners support and ensure that this unique nature is preserved for future generations.

Due to its location on the Baltic Sea, it is an excellent place to observe various bird species. The Hochuferweg trail is particularly popular with hikers, offering magnificent views of the cliffs and the Baltic Sea and allowing you to immerse yourself in the beautiful beech forest. Cycling through the shady forest is also a pleasure with some beautiful cycle path options.
