Popular circular route on the "Tierberg" with wonderful views and a cosy stop at the "Bergmannsklause". From the railway station, head across the market square, past the castle ("Schiefermuseum" and "Spielzeugschachtel") into Eichhornsgasse, where the ascent begins. Panoramic hike in the Thuringian Forest. This marvellous hike leads from the small town of Steinach to the Rennsteig high-level trail on the ridge of the Thuringian Forest. The hike starts at the Steinach (Thür.) railway station. The route leads past the ski arena with chair lifts, a high ropes course and the Griffelbrüchen quarries, where stones were once quarried for historical writing utensils.
