Best views trails in Neuwied

The ExtraTour Fürstenweg is a certified premium hiking trail. It follows in the footsteps of the Princes of Wied. Their principality in the Rhine-Westerwald existed from the 12th century until 1806. The ancestral seat of the princes was Altwied Castle until the 17th century, before they founded the town of Neuwied in 1653 and later resided there in Neuwied Castle.

It then continues northwards along the Hasenpfad into the forest. It makes a loop in the forest, which is part of the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park.

From Wollendorf via cycle path to Rodenbach/sports ground, up to the Rheinsteigweg via Ochsenalm up to the "Kastanie", further uphill past the animal shelter and ski hut to the Hahnehof restaurant, at Monrepos Castle with bison herd, further up to the Jägerstuhl, from the Christianshütte it goes downhill to the Kappel, further down past the old swimming pool via the nature trail, further up to the old sports ground, from there down past the Schützenhütte to the starting point in Wollendorf.
