Best hard trails in Wachtberg

Hiking trail "Around Wachtberg" organised by the Eifelverein, divided into 3 stages. Particularly suitable in winter when the ground is frozen and your shoes stay clean. The western section leads through apple orchards on country lanes, which can sometimes be soggy. The eastern part is the most scenic (with distant views of the Rhine). The tour was completed in 3 day hikes.

Tour from Kottenforst in Bonn via Grafschaft to Altenahr. From there to Kripp and then along the Rhine back to Kottenforst. The first part of the tour is mostly on quiet side roads and farm tracks through the fruit-growing area around Grafschaft. The area is full of orchards. From Altenahr, the Ahrtalweg initially went along the country road for a few kilometres. The actual cycle path is then really nice to cycle on and leads along a paved path (partly fine gravel, partly tarmac or paved)...
