Best beach trails in Sellin

On this wonderful walk from Sellin, you can enjoy the forest, lake and sea air. The Black Lake is a nutrient-poor kettle lake lined with silting bogs. Cranberries, rosemary heather and cotton grass grow here. Hikers can reach the lake via the high shore hiking trail between Sellin and Binz, with a wooden footbridge leading directly to the water. The entire lake, its moors and a 100 metre-wide strip of surrounding forest are part of the South-East Rügen Biosphere Reserve.

The Hochuferwanderweg hiking trail is a must when visiting Rügen. There are always wonderful views of the coast. After a detour to the Black Lake, the trail continues into the beech forest and on to the beautiful Granitz hunting lodge, from whose observation tower you can see the whole island on a clear day.
