Explore the most popular Waterfall trails in Wales with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

The Daear Ddu route is my preferred route, because it’s more challenging in terms of a steeper ascent than if you were to start at Plas y Brenin. You can do the hard part first and enjoy a leisurely descent. It’s also more enjoyable because of varied scenery. I enjoyed a picnic at the top on a clear day and the views are excellent. Lakes, woodland, mountains: perfect.

Great hike. Early + mid-week to avoid crowds doing Pen-y-fan. Had problems early on as started in dark and couldn’t find route to ridge past Welsh Water construction works at Neuadd Reservoir. There is a ‘pedestrian’ route across river following fence at start of works.

Definitely not 17km. More like 17 miles. Lovely views.

Went out on a drizzly day, very muddy but enjoyable walk. We took the opportunity to extend the loop a few times increasing the difficulty and distance. The falls are well worth the climb down and back up! Stunning scenery so a very popular walk at weekends in particular. Bring coins if you intend to park in one of the car parks, well worth the £4 to help keep the paths open and the centre/ toilets up and running!

Great walking with amazing views from the ‘Lonely Shepherd’ at the very top (helped by a beautiful sunny day) and plenty of rivers and streams on route as well as the Devil’s bridge waterfall. Interesting and varied terrain and scenery. We unintentionally walked the route in reverse (out the far end of the car park) and did the main steep stretch first.. there are a couple of steep sections. The route at the top of the hill didn’t seem to follow the obvious paths and we did get lost.. recommend following the main paths and not the route map.

Incredible walk that offers woodlands, streams and views.

Great trail! However this is a moderate walk, the gradient is steep, and when wet it can be quite hard to get up the two steep climbs. Beautiful though and after heavy rains, the waterfalls were spectacular. Walked with my mum (70 years old) who is a seasoned walker and she struggled due to her short legs and the often big steps on the climbs.

Stunning trail! A must do if your in the Brecon Beacons.
