Was incredible in the snow

Got caught with my trousers down, no cover for dogging. Views are tidy enough.

The whole trail was covered in snow today, from top to bottom. kids came along for fun. I was the worst dad ever half way up and the best dad ever when we finished with a nice cup of coffee 2 and a half hours later

My first solo hike. Moderately easy to find paths. Recommend setting out early to avoid the people traffic in on the way up.

A rather mild January morning with hardly a breeze but temperatures soon plummet and the winds picked up the closer we got to the summit. Visibility was reduced due to fog at the summit but this just adds another dimension to the whole journey. The decent was much more difficult with my joints. All in all a wonderful day though. Highly recommended x

A regular trail run route (minus Cribyn!). The best way to walk the central Brecon Beacons.

This is a beautiful area to explore. The trails are very clearly marked as you walk alongside the lakes and river. Most of the trail is fairly flat, but there are some areas with a fairly steady incline. There is plenty of forested areas to walk through.

Oak wood has a subtropical feel about the place, cloudy when we visited so we will be going back when the weather is clearer. £5 all day parking, loos available in the car park and tea room is open until 5. Bit of a scramble to the top and we went down the hill side to Llyn Cau which proved to bit quite slippy! Beautiful place can’t wait to return.

Great trail. Coming down as you do the trail clockwise can be a bit tricky as the trail is quite rundown.

fantastic views all the way round in good weather. I will say that the right hand loop is very steep with lots of loose scree and is a bit hard going on the up but the views are worth it. wild camp on summit overnight sunset was amazing. Emergency shelter is good at summit if needed.

Nice trial. Pitty is was cloudy and windy.

Has a bit of every thing took me approx 3 hours to complete with a mix of trail running and walking

Hard climb and descent but worth the effort. Incredible place but good weather needed as can be dangerous in poor visibility.

Fab hike on a fine day

on Pen Y Fan from A470

Friday, November 17, 2017

If you do this from the Pont a Daf carpark it is very busy and can get congested with massive parking issues! Locally called the M4 due to the sheer number of people who do this path! Easy enough to do though, but expect to queue at the top for a photo by the cairn!
If you do the trail from the Storey Arms, it is more difficult but you will still experience same parking issues!
Oh for the days when no one climbed this!!!

on Pen Y Fan Loop

Thursday, November 16, 2017

I have done this route many times and it is great! Once the initial incline up to ridge is complete the walk along the ridge is straightforward with excellent views across the valley! The climb upto penyfan is fine too and the descent the other side is a bit steep! The climb up to the Cribyn is steep but straightforward. Once you ascend from there the walk down the RomanRoad is easy! I love this route!

Challenging both physically and mentally but when you reach the summit it's all worth it!
