#1 - Llandogo & Trellech Woodland Circular
Monmouth, Monmouthshire, WalesLength: 7.2 mi • Est. 2 h 53 m
This hike starts from Llandogo with a climb up into the forest before continuing into woodland into a loop to Trelleck.
Stop to see St. Anne's Well, where the water is said to have healing properties (hence its alternate name The Virtuous Well) - then follow Penarth Brook off the road into rolling woodland hills.
This then takes you through some concrete lanes and public footpaths towards Parkhouse and Broadstone before continuing back into woodland and finally down the hill into Llandago.
The paths are nice and clear but the terrain was a little soggy at times, so it's recommendable to wear comfortable and adequate clothing.
There was great variation, ranging from steep woodland trails to little used concrete lanes. All parts of the route were on public rights of way, with very few areas coming near any private land.
