Great little walk. Relatively easy in comparison to a lot of the other Welsh walks. Some great views of the lakes.

The Daear Ddu route is my preferred route, because it’s more challenging in terms of a steeper ascent than if you were to start at Plas y Brenin. You can do the hard part first and enjoy a leisurely descent. It’s also more enjoyable because of varied scenery. I enjoyed a picnic at the top on a clear day and the views are excellent. Lakes, woodland, mountains: perfect.

Some stunning sights once you reach the main lake. I will say the start of this trail can be challenging coming from the main village at the start. A rather high incline hill up the roads leading to the off road trail to the lake. Highly recommend this though.

Nice hike, we started towards the back of the Cotswolds outdoors and went up from there, old logging or mining road so nice walk up, it is a little steep for a few KM,s but does ease off. Trails are relatively easy to follow and once you get closer to the Lake it’s marked. Weather conditions were very wet and windy so we didn’t walk around the lake as lake side was extremely windy and raining very heavy. Walk down is also nice, passed the old slate houses hidden in the hill side. Trails are a mix of compressed stone and mud. There is some opportunities to go off trail. All in all a decent quick hike. Not really suitable for people with walking difficulties or push chairs at this time of year.

Good walk up tryfan yesterday we set off on the track went abit off course going up this walk isn’t for the faith hearted some hard going getting up but very enjoyable fantastic views. It was clear as we were walking up but the weather came in very fast and started to drizzling which make the rocks slippery while getting down so a good pair of boots is a must.

Snowy conditions with very cold wind chill but beautiful views ascending and descending.

Definitely not 17km. More like 17 miles. Lovely views.

Great if you want a good stretch of the legs but can't get to snowdonia. Nice views all round, the latter half that I missed and had to backtrack can be very muddy as the paths cross farmers fields... It hadn't been raining for a while when I went but was still very boggy in places. All in all a great walk!

Little bit challenging in places, specially in bad weather, but rewarding and views worth every step. I do recommend going when sky is clear just to see those stunning mountain and valley views.

There’s a new adventure park and a good portion of the trail is now closed off, mostly likely because it is now part of the park. We made it further up taking a right from the trailhead but it was closed off by a fence closer to the top where it is no longer a loop.
