We did it it one day. Started at 630 and finished around 345. We stopped for lunch on the way down. Pretty tough hike overall so I wouldn’t try to do it in one day unless your in really good shape. Also some people say you can go without a guide. I don’t think this is true. We were basically extorted when we tried to go without a guide, so we just went with a cheap guide at Sapa Original Trek for ~70 bucks

We took a guide that was ok but he wasn’t very helpful. So next time I’d do the trail without a guide. The path is easy to find. There are a few blogs that explain how to go about it on your own. There’s only one path so it’s close to impossible to get lost. The walk is strenuous but worthwhile. If you like a challenge. You will likely not see that much if you’re here in April or May because there mountains are very misty and covered in fog. We got rained on, on the way there and took the cable car back to town. We departed the parking lot around 6.30 and arrived at the peak at 1pm.
