We only hiked a short distance to kill some time before we could check in at the hotel. It was super windy and there's nothing to block the wind where we were on the open plains.

Surprised at how spectacular the falls are. Even though it’s steep, the trail in and out of the falls is smooth and a consistent grade. Would recommend.

Do all of this. Yellowstone canyon is a beaut!

Mommy and I decided to celebrate my 37th birthday by visiting Yellowstone. This was our first hike and it quite the leg burner. Half way through I feel and got a boo boo on my knee. Mommy kissed it and make it better. A must do!

beautiful easy to follow trail.

Encountered an elk right at the beginning of the trail and then saw a bunch of elk in the meadow. The view from the top was beautiful

This was a beautiful view of Lake Yellowstone and the Tetons and some fun geysers along the way.

Another amazing hike in the snow (and mud) as the temperatures increased. Hiked out to junction with Yellowstone Trail and had spectacular view of the river and Mt. Washburn. Wildlife spotted included bison, bald eagle and a snowy owl. Lots of elk tracks.

10/08/19: This is a great short steep hike to a pretty little lake. Take time to explore around the lake. Amazing views and saw pair of nesting geese hunkered down before snowstorm that is heading in to area.

Amazing hike today! Highlight of trip was a badger near the junction to Specimen Ridge Trail. Sat and watched her for 15 minutes. Also spotted Bald Eagles, elk and grizzly in the distant. Very snowy and muddy but warmed up to 34 so very comfortable besides wet feet.

The beginning of this hike was really easy and great-- very casual winding road up to the top. The snow melting caused a lot of mud, and made for an unpleasant return down the mountain. We thought the rating was weirdly overestimated... until we got to the summit where the trail turned to snow. Closer to the top by the watch tower is insanely windy-- almost enough to blow us around. The wind was icy and driving snow for a good 10 minutes of walking up until you got to the tower. Even though that kicked our butt, the trail was incredibly worth it for the views. We didn't run into any wildlife, but make sure you bring bear spray just in case! All in all it was a pretty casual hike, and way worth the trek.

Great little hike and lake a good place for a picnic.

The drive along the lake is super pretty, especially the Absaroka Range.

Superb hike, well worth the trip down to the falls. Definitely needed poles as there were parts of the trail going up that were snow and ice covered. Saw no one from the top to the falls and back.

Beautiful scenery!

Fabulous, easy hike, with a much better view of Grand Prismatic than the boardwalk loop. Not terribly crowded on the morning of Oct. 8th.

The water feature was worth the hike and we had great weather but the only exciting thing about this hike for us was hiking into the areas where we weren't supposed to be.

ok trail. Some very shifty ground at some points. Good views at the very top areas. Worth it but I won't do it again.

Great way to see all the beauty Yellowstone has to offer, without all the crowds of tourists (after the trailhead). Along the way are hot springs, geysers, a waterfall, rivers, a lake, open plains, and forests. I went late in the afternoon when there were few people around and ran into a herd of buffalo.

Lots of wildlife traverse the area between the trailhead and the canyon—including bears. I saw both fresh and day-old bear tracks. Trail was almost empty; most people seem to take the route from the Bunsen trailhead.

To me the best part about this hike was the field in the very beginning. Otherwise, the trail was alongside a bunch of fire burned trees, and the view from ice lake was just “eh”. I think I may have just had higher expectations just from the previous hikes in the area. We didn’t pass a single hiker, which was nice. The waterfall is also pretty... but like I said, I probably wouldn’t be super excited to hike this again.

Went around 3pm Sunday. Knee-high snow drifts in places. Allot more time than you think you need.

Did this hike a few days ago, second one up after fresh snow. 4 different sets of bear tracks, did the full loop. The views from the top of the hike into the old faithful area was sick! Great easy hike, great views, and the waterfall is a nice perk.
