Despite being hailed and snowed on while hiking this in late May, we enjoyed the hike and the falls. Very nice trail. We didn't do the loop, just hiked the one or two switchbacks up to a more level view of the top of the falls, and then went back they way we came.

It is an easy hike with nice views. I would highly suggest you to do round trip hike. Early in the season you can see nice wild flowers.

About the easiest hike you can do a beautiful waterfall. We also saw a bison on the trail minding its own business but please have the common sense to respect wildlife’s privacy and keep safe distances. We waited till the bison headed back into the woods before starting out again.

Turns into a great hike once past the overlook. Wish i had more time here.

Colors from the spring are amazing!

It is closer to Moderate but only because all the elevation is in the last 400 yards. The overlook provides a beautiful look of the Grand Prismatic Hot Spring that needs to be seen from the air to really appreciate it. Several buffalo along side the flat part of trail- remember just because you are on path doesn’t mean you should ignore safety distances!

Just inside South entrance- great spot to stop and get some fresh air! Not a well known spot but a must see. Not really a hike- more like a walk. Late May has lots of run off and muddy trail. Don’t miss it!

Looking out across to the Grand Prismatic is one thing but taking the short hike to see it topside is a must do. One of my favorite geysers at Yellowstone!

This was such a fun little hike! My grandpa and I only saw maybe 4 people and the fall at the end was so pretty! Bring bug spray and sunscreen though

An absolute must do trail

On a road trip, my friend and I had decided to summit one of the Tetons rather than backpack in Yellowstone, so we had only one day to spend in this legendary park. We chose to see the geothermal vents and then do this waterfall loop. I definitely wasn’t disappointed with either. We hiked in the evening, and had the trail to ourselves; the sun set below the trees at the waterfall and under a colorfully streaked sky on our return we took in a herd of buffalo below us on the range. We also encountered a shy black bear. I can’t wait to get back to this magical place!

Yes, Yellowstone is incredibly busy and there will be people everywhere at the geyser basin trails, but in my opinion, it is totally worth dealing with the crowds. The Grand Prismatic is an absolutely beautiful geological wonder. The boardwalk is cool but the overlook is even better in my opinion.

Do this hike!! Everyone goes to the boardwalk but this beats the boardwalk all day, definitely worth your time!

Moderately trafficked easy hike past the gorgeous Sapphire Pool to the picturesque Mystic Falls. We're glad we went up the first set of switchbacks (2.7m roundtrip) for a better, higher view of the waterfall.

This was a cool hike but easy.. once we passed the overlook to Primastic Springs the crowd definitely thinned out. Once you get to Fairy Falls I would seriously consider continuing on to Imperial Gyser. There was nobody back there so it felt like it was our own private gyser.... it also goes off like every 30 seconds. If you do the whole thing you get to see prismatic, the waterfall and a gyser.

Fascinating sights!

Really nice easy hike to a cool waterfall...some options to go up or down and make it more challenging but we just hung out at the bottom of the falls and took it in...did it with my wife and two daughters (ages 6, 3). They handled it with no problems.

2 different thermal features which are very unique on their own.

Definitely go past the falls to imperial geyser! Totally worth it!

Great waterfall and it's beautiful out there, but there is sooooo much traffic on this trail.

The falls were quite beautiful. The hike was easy and had lots of other hikers.

We did this trail at the beginning of September 2017. It takes you past midway geyser basin and then you walk on a pretty boring (and flat and easy) path surrounded by pines for quite a while. However, eventually you get to fairy falls which are pretty. If this was the only thing you saw I probably wouldn't have loved this trail as the path to it was so boring. However, you can continue on to the imperial geyser. This is what makes the trail so worth it. There is this beautiful geyser in this amazingly blue pools. My husband and I had this site all to ourselves for a while. It was so amazing and relaxing. If you go on this trail and turn around after fairy falls you're truly missing out on an amazing experience.

unforgettable view!

Went in July 2016.

Amazing! Went in July 2016.

Great not too hard. Bring bug spray near lake

Nice trail!!! The fall is incredible. Beware no bathrooms at trail head, but plenty of privacy spots on the trail. Saw a buffalo grazing along the way.
