Beautiful but very crowded!

We drove to the coordinates and couldn't find any sign of the trail. There's a nordic training area nearby so something probably exists for skiiers in winter (the sign said no hikers).

This trail is down a dirt road by the Half Moon Lake Lodge. When we went the road up to the trailhead was closed to vehicles so we parked by the lodge and walked. The wildflowers and butterflies were out and I saw a redtail hawk circling overhead. The trail goes alongside the lake for a while before branching away. We turned back just before a flooded meadow. A really pretty hike! Lots of boulders, pine trees, bushes, and flowers.

Insane views the entire hike. Distance is more like ~12.5 miles one way.

Bugs were light, trail was continuously scenic, weather was great.

It was an adventure! Cool beautiful beaver damn/lake. Hike was good for as far as we got - a skunk chased us, tail in the air, rear end facing us. We ran like hell! I think the skunk was protecting it's young. We waited a while and tried passing again but the skunk came after us again. We left!

We were going to attempt this hike in June of 2017, but signs indicated "no foot traffic allowed" Nordic skiing only.

This trail has some of the most spectacular scenery ever! We camped the first night at Sapphire Lake (west of Hobbs). We had it to ourselves and it was a great spot. The next day we did a day hike to Island Lake and Titcomb Basin. I don't know if I've ever seen any more spectacular scenery. Seneca Lake looks incredible. Then, the view from the 2nd pass down toward Island is top notch. Then, the area in Titcomb Basin looks like you are in another world with the jagged mountains coming up out of the water! Our third night we camped at Eklund Lake. The trail that goes above the Lake has a view of the lake and the Wind Rivers in the background that is also incredible! I woke up before the sun came up and there was fog everywhere and the pictures were incredible and I felt like I was in the Smoky Rocky Mountains! Tough trail, but so worth it, you won't even notice the pain :)

The views are amazing once you get through trees. Had a great backpacking trip with my son. It was our first backpacking trip together so we stayed at Hobbs Lake and did a couple day hikes up to Seneca Lake he's only 11 so we took it easy! Planning our next trip up he wants to camp at Seneca and maybe Island Lake then hike up to titcomb basins!

Returned back to visit an old friend 9/6/15. The first time that I hike up to the pass it was covered with glaciers. This time the both glaciers were nearly gone. We had to hike 1/4 mile on the other side to even get a glimpse of what was left of Knifepoint Glacier.

Our Family has been camping at New Fork for as long as I can remember. It is great to see that I can now add one of my favorite trails to my list. The trailhead from the upper parking lot is where most start, but there is one from the camp ground that merges together about a mile later. I used the campground trail. A lot of get spots to stop and camp along this trail. A great trail to take if you are looking for a 3 day pack.

Titcomb Basin and Island Lake couldn't be more scenic. The first half of the trail is a gentle incline but the last half is a series of sever up and down sections. We're thinking about returning again next year and utiIzing the services of a local outfitter who can haul our packs to Island Lake. That way, we can hike in with light day packs.

We hiked the trail during the weekend BEFORE Labor Day and it snowed. Always be prepared for adverse weather in the Winds.

Breathtaking beauty at every turn. Went in early August, the wild flowers were in bloom as were the Mosquitos, bring bug spray or a net.

Beautiful lakes with Golden Trout. Pole creek crossing can be difficult in high water. Didn't take the chance and followed the river to the lakes. It was a an exhausting couple of miles.

Great thru-hike trip near the backbone of much of the Wind River Mountains. A lot of lakes to see and camps near the trail. We hiked it is 6 days because it rained constantly but we had our car shuttled to Green River Lakes trailhead so instead of taking our time we just plowed through the rain.

Another great loop trip that takes you to Cook lakes home to Golden Trout and over Lester Pass. Can be done in three days.

This is a great extended loop trail to see a lot of different country. It has it all, large rivers, lots of lakes and many mountain views. There are lot of ups and downs. If you go early in the year the chances are good that you will have to cross some snow.

This is one of my favorite areas in the Wind Rivers. I love to day hike into this basin. The mountains are amazing. A friend and myself were the only ones there a couple of years ago. It was the middle of September though and we had to leave a day early because it started to snow.
