Did the hike in 3 legs. String to Holly and camped. Holly to North Cascade and camped. Then North Cascade out to String. Saw a black bear on the way up, then a grizzly and 2 moose on the way down. Incredible views. Snowed the first day so the top was a bit slick but passed through with only trekking poles. Would do it in one day with a daypack if we do it again.

HikingGreat!

Easy hike. No wildlife to speak of. Doesn’t mean you aren’t cautious and carry bear spray. East side of lake is Aspens, open and great views. West side is evergreens, lush forest and intimidating at times. Undergrowth is right on you width of trail and unnerving as a bear could spook or moose. Overall beautiful!

Our favorite trail of the Tetons. Not very strenous but very beautiful. Includes lake views, forest views and a walk through a meadow of small aspen trees which in september was unreal. The entire trail is like walking through an enchanted forest with the fall colors. Surprisingly not crowded at all, esp. after you pass the Leigh lake junction (we came thursday afternoon at 4:30 pm in late september). Would actually do this trail again if I am ever in the Tetons in the fall again.

Fantastic hike with breathtaking views. Early starts are best as paintbrush divide can get gusty, especially in the afternoon. There's about 30 feet of light snowpack you have to cross on the paintbrush side heading up to the divide, I did it in runners and trekking poles no problem on 9/25/20. Once you hit solitude lake be prepared for more foot traffic.

Very steep and rocky. Almost harder downhill than uphill

Definitely the most beautiful hike I have ever done but definitely the hardest. My wife and I did it counter-clockwise and I think that is the way to go for light, views, and difficulty. If you are scared of heights like my wife is then the section climbing to the top of the divide will be pretty sketchy for you in parts. The top of the divide is also incredibly windy. We saw a few moose and pika in Cascade. I highly recommend this hike but only if you know you can handle the distance. My recording had it at 23.5 miles. I think it would be best enjoyed as a backpacking trip.

Awesome trail but be warned to make noise or have bear spray at the ready when coming into the canyon. Had a grizzly cub come across our trail running full speed 10 feet in front of us. We didn’t want to meet mama so we’ll make it to the top another day.

Amazing hike with beautiful views! My bf and I completed this hike today, hiking CCW starting from string lake trailhead. I agree with other reviews that this is the best way; however, we saw a ton of people going the opposite way, including those with really full packs, so it’s definitely doable. The only comment to add is that it was crazy crazy windy as you reach paintbrush divide. The wind was strong enough to push you over if you didn’t have proper footing, and to take anything you weren’t clutching tightly onto. P.s. saw a few moose! P.p.s recording unfortunately cut out for a bit in the middle

This trail is great for planning an easy afternoon. We had drove to the park the day we hiked this and didn’t want to lose the whole day. This was less grueling but still totally beautiful. Once we passed the water, we didn’t see anyone. Some of my favorite pictures that we took of the park were from this trail.

The trail was beautiful. The scenery was amazing. The more you walked the more it changed. We walked in deep forest areas where the colored were spectacular. The hike does lead up to a beautiful view of the lake below. I wouldn’t say this trail was for everyone nor would I say it is that easy if a climb. It is worth it to see Mother Nature at work. I saw a woolly bear caterpillar munching on some leaves. Heard some elk bugling. Pretty spectacular day.

Absolutely beautiful views of the west side of the Tetons. Beautiful descent down into the canyon from hurricane pass. Great camping spot right at the very end of the camping zone.

The trail is an easy hike for most of the 4 miles. A little climb and then down. Good mix of lodgepole pine, aspen and brush. Absolutely beautiful views of Tetons and String Lake.
