HikingGreat!

I would definitely rate this hike as at least Medium intensity. You have to go down at a severe decline, which means you have to go all the way back up. BUT, the view was WORTH IT. It was crazy beautiful. One of the best waterfalls I've been to.

The view at the end is SPECTACULAR. Beautiful canyon and the falls were amazing. Not much to look at during the rest of the hike, however.

Very steep as advertised. the hike down was easy and when the falls appear you forget about the hike. The hike back up is pretty exhausting but there are plenty of rocks to sit on for small breaks.

I went to Porcupine Falls as a teenager while at church camp, I loved it! the water was ice cold but so much fun and was an easy hike, although I don't remember there being stairs 19 years ago! Now my husband and I are planning hikes for next summer with our kids (6 & 4) I can't wait to show them this amazing place from my youth!

This is an amazing hike and the falls at the end are definitely worth the hike. Very steep, slippery and it’s hard on the knees. Only a couple of other people on the trail, but we were alone at the falls.

HikingGreat!

1.) Trailhead is located within Canyon Rec almost directly across from a Ranger Station which sits right next to the 37 road. 2.) The trail markers are mostly easy to see on the way up if you stop and don’t continue until you locate the next marker. At the top of the ridge they get a little harder to find and on the way back they were EXTREMELY hard to find, when in doubt also look for rock Cairns. PRIME RATTLESNAKE HABITAT, I heard 3, try not to stray from path. crazy experience but great views

Nice trail majority of it in the shade with the elevation gains and drops mostly for minimal stretches. Watch out for horse shit!

NEED HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLE. We could not actually access trail, only made it about halfway down the road (122 off 14) before bottoming out and getting stuck. This is not a rating of the trail since I did not hike it, just wanted to warn potential hikers.

Absolutely fantastic! Don’t believe the 2 mile distance at the trail head, it’s probably straight line distance. It was 2.6 miles to the lookout. For most of the hike you’re not going to see much, however, the best is always to come! And I really mean that with this hike! Tip, pack a lunch and take a beer or wine and enjoy! However, it is a little scary with kids at the end (500 feet drop) at least. Also, don’t pay much attention to my recording because I had to do an extra mile or so due to my son leaving his backpack!

HikingGreat!Scramble

We hiked this trail with three kids and a dog. The trailhead is a few miles down a bumpy forest road with lovely views of high-mountain ranch activities, complete with horses, cows and sheep. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. The gravelly surface can be slippery. The trail is steep, as advertised, and a little hard on knees and low-landers’ lungs. The kids loved scrambling around the rocky walls at the base. We climbed about 40 feet into the mineshaft beside the waterfall, which added just the right touch of adventure to a beautiful hike. Even the dog was able to make the climb! Stunning views of the valley and the best waterfall in the neighborhood.

Absolutely the coldest water that has ever touched my body! Simply a great way to end the day, especially after hiking bucking mule falls. Very busy, but that could be because of Labor Day weekend.

Majestic views at the end of an easy trail. Much of the distance is spent on the forest, where we saw decent numbers of high elevation bird species including Canada Jay and Mountain Chickadee. There are a couple of potentially confusing intersections, but just stop and look for the subtle arrows - one was carved into a fallen log. The trail continues past the overlook without any marker, so make sure to stop when you see rocky cliffs behind a wood fence on your left. There was no problem completing this trail with a baby strapped to my chest.

Steep, but short and had no trouble maintaining footing with a baby strapped to my chest. We had the falls all to ourselves, aside from a curious pika!

I read all the previous reviews. It’s not that steep. The stairs make it much easier and safer. The bottom is insanely beautiful. One thing that is right is photos do no justice. The cave is pretty cool and a pretty easy climb to. Me and my husband took our 5 year old on this hike and he loved it to. The water in incredibly cold but it’s so gorgeous! 5 star hike. Just stunning.

Amazing at the bottom and worth the hike out, but beware, this is not an "easy" hike in my mind. Short yes, but very steep, the hike out kicked my rear.

5 miles in and out. Mostly through forest with some short open areas. The view of the falls from the overlook is magnificent.

Parked at the old cabin and tried to find a trail but just followed the alltrails map...basically bushwhacked most of it and occasionally would see a very very faint trail. But following the creek will get you there. cliff drop off at the end. Pretty area, just wish there was a better trail. I would not take kids or dogs.
