Excellent hike. With a great view of the Tetons range from the west. Would highly recommend continuing to go straight when you run into a river bed. The trail is designed to go right and head north east but heading to the western south tip of the butte is amazing, which is what I have only done on this hike. The hike is difficult with multiple steep sections but has no technical sections. WARNING. If you do decide to take the western route I have only trail blazed off the southern ridge straight down. Which is amazing but could present unintentionally hazard to any personal .

Gorgeous spot for photos.

5/6/18 Still plenty of snow on the traverse trail East to Northwest route. Postholed some, got feet wet in melting snow. Stayed higher, sidehilling off trail to avoid snow in gully on NW end of trail, keeping an eye on the trail below with this app. Potentially dry by end of May. Really nice trail, well maintained on NW end. Saw a lot of butterflies near the creek on the way out. At least 7 species of wildflowers already blooming on SE end, south facing slopes. This traverse is under 4 miles if you do a bike shuttle or leave a 2nd car at the other end. The 7.3 mile estimate here is an out & back from the same trailhead. If hiking later in summer, start early at the SE side to get the sun exposed climb done while it’s cool, ending the hike down through shady conifers on the NW end.

Good trail and the best views of grand Tetons. Note the trail seems like it ends after 100 feet. you have to climb around and the trail continues

Think many confuse this set of historic cabins at Menor's Ferry with Mormon Row's Moulton Barn. Menor's Ferry is located in Moose, and the historic district includes the Chapel of the Transfiguration - https://www.nps.gov/grte/learn/historyculture/menor.htm. We also drove by the Moulton barn and stopped; got out and walked around, close to the cabin, and there are Bison in the fields around it, so don't provoke them. Great photo opportunity with barn, bison and big Tetons in the background. Must stop if in Jackson Hole.

The most photographed barn in Jackson. A watercolorist's dream.
