Did this a couple of years back. Amazing hike with amazing views at the top. Not an easy hike so very rewarding once completed.

This was rough. We did this hike in July and it was a brutal climb. Even worse was the terror of coming down. Bring trekking poles, though, and you'll have a better time of it. Outstanding views of Jackson though.

Very beautiful lake on top. Saw small bear early in AM when we got to the lake. Early AM the wildlife is very abundant.

Did this hike a little too close to dusk. Passed plenty of people who said they had not seen much in the way of wildlife, but our experience was much different. We saw a herd of elk running through a nearby meadow and a badger scuttling across the trail right in front of us. We did not make it to the ponds, however, because we came across a brown bear about 2.5 miles in. It was on the trail 25 yards ahead of us before we ever saw it, and we did not have bear spray. We immediately hiked up the ridge to distance ourselves, and luckily the ol' bear continued on its way without giving us a second thought. We turned around and went back out the way we came. Fantastic scenery and wildlife, but be smarter than I was!
(1) Do not start a hike at dusk. (2) Carry bear spray. (3) Hike in a group of three or more. (4) Follow any other guidelines provided by park personnel.

This hike is on the easier end of moderate. Some snow on most of the trail, so although spikes aren’t necessarily needed, they are highly recommended. There were a couple falls between myself and a fellow hiker due to slippery snow and mud areas. Gorgeous hike though! Creek/river is still frozen, but in some areas you could hear the water still rushing underneath the ice. That was neat. You can also (very carefully!) walk on the frozen water up to where the waterfall would normally be

Great great view...a little crowded but still pretty awesome!

Much less crowded than the rest of the park with some unique features in here.

Went all the way to lake solitude.... fantastic

This was my first backpacking trip and it was definitely the best thing I did all year. we did the hike in 3 days and 2 nights, our group took the tram and exited at jenny lake, the views were completely mind blowing! we saw two bears down cascade canyon. we went in august and the weather was perfect, the wildflowers were in season and there were huckleberries everywhere (if you know which ones are huckleberries :))

Hiked the summer trail in the snow. The last mile stretch was the most challenging but worth it for the views at the top.

I did this trail in the summer of 2016 and loved it. the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there were alot of fallen trees covering the trail at different points so it got annoying trying to get past them. we also ran into some big horn sheep which was pretty cool.

Great hike! Good obstacles but i would not call it hard. We backpacked in for a couple of nights and stayed near the shelf lakes to the East of North Gap Lake. Beautiful views, and some of the lakes had fish. I was using dry flies and it seemed they would take about anything I put on top. Will do this hike again one day even if only for the fishing!

Stunning, really loved it

Good hike, beautiful in new snow. Didn’t need snowshoes and spikes were helpful, though not necessary. Didn’t see anyone else on the trail today (01/01/19).

Took tram from Teton village to Death canyon trailhead 4 days 3 nights out. Started in mountain snow and rain through 1st night . Crest trail quite muddy the next few days. My gaiters were a life saver! Be prepared for an extra mile at Death canyon trailhead due to limited parking so overflow is a distance away.

Great Winter Hike!!
We started ~1mile below the trailhead due to the seasonal closure. We took the trail over to the historic camp, then we went up to the lake overlook and turned it from there. Gorgeous views and very easy terrain. Since it was winter, we left the trail a number of times to explore the area.
If you're a backcountry skier, this is an amazing spot. Climb would only take a couple hours and the lines are spectacular.

Best to go in late August. Going in the middle of summer you will share this trail with hundreds of other people. To crowded in the heart of summer.

This is an amazing hike. I did it on Xmas Eve with light snow and it was as challenging as it gets (used snow shoes when needed). Would not advise doing what I did, but you won't be disappointed any time. Amazing views. One of the best hikes in the area.

Love this trail!

FAVORITE TRAIL IN TETONS!!!! Go all the way!

These lakes are incredibly beautiful! And the mountains are unreal!

We did not make it all the way but the views were incredible in the canyon!

Do the full trail!!!! We saw so many people turn around at the falls but we kept going to the top of the mountain and it was SOOO worth it. Probably my favorite hike we did in Yellowstone! The view of all the geysers steaming in September was like something I’ll probably never see again. Amazinggggg!!!!

Beautiful lookout point to the Yellowstone canyon!

Pleasantly surprised with this trail! I loved it! Can’t wait to go back in the summer. Easy to find, easy to follow. Moderate to easy. GPS was exactly 9 miles. Nov 27. Light snow on about half of the trail. The rest was dry or slightly muddy.

This trail is amazing, especially cascade canyon. We took 3 days/2 nights to cover 30 miles. Camped outside the national park both nights b/c we didn't have permits. A good amount of elevation change, but totally worth it!
