Trail is confusing after a bit. Hard to tell where to go

Ive done this trail twice in the past year and the waterfall is pretty spectacular and a lot larger than one might expect. The trail going up to the falls is easy to follow but once you get closer to the falls I would imagine older individuals might have a hard time getting over some of the large boulders. I mentioned the trail is easy to follow on the way up but the way back is a bit confusing as there is multiple paths that look like a trail. My recommendation is to stay on the trail closest to the stream, which is the one you came up to the falls on.

I would recommend this trail for anyone looking for an easy to moderate hike. It would be great for a family hike. The only negative part about the hike is that the falls could be hard to find if you do not have someone explain where it is. The trail is not marked out well.

I would have rated this trail a 5 star IF the trail had been marked or at least clear on the back side of the mountain. about mile 2.5 the trail completely disappears. it took me maybe one half hour to bushwack my way to the trail almost to the end of the loop. don't hike this without nav aids.

This hike is not for the faint of heart. This hike is for experienced and well seasoned hikers. The trail leading to the meadow is well maintained and easy to follow. There’s plenty of shade the first 2 miles, but very little after that. Once you get a ways into the meadow, the trail disappears, and you have to bushwhack to the summit. If you can’t read/use a map, turn around at the meadow. There’s a lot of loose rock the closer you get to the top, so be careful not to break an ankle. This is VERY active grizzly country, and you should expect to see sign of them, and be prepared for an encounter. This means carrying bear spray and knowing how to use it. The summit views are incredible, and very worth the last steep haul to the top.

The views at the top were fantastic! This is a very difficult trail with half of it being back country hiking. There was no trail to follow on the final loop and we often got off track. It took us a total of 4.5 hours. The final loop took us so much longer than we thought it would that we ended up hiking in the dark for the last 45 minutes. Overall a very rewarding trail for an experienced hiker.

Not bad. Not marked. Just start walking down hill and you'll figure it out quick. Great views.

We made this a short two night backpacking trip. Our objective was to hike up to the Beartooth Plateau and look over to glacier lake. plus a little fishing. We made camp between Mutt and Jeff lake. Nice spot with a campfire. I forgot to take my power pack to keep my battery charged in my phone so I did not get all my trail recorded coming back down from ansary lake.

Fantastic views, challenging hike to start with steep switchbacks but seeing the waterfalls 2.5 miles from the trailhead was well worth it! Definitely bring bug spray. Hiking poles would also be useful, there were some areas downhill that I slid a few steps.

Incredible views, hordes of mosquitoes, trail is not marked (you’ll need GPS for the first part, the last half is obvious), marsh all throughout the first half (your feet will get wet), and thunderstorms roll in fast. Oh, and did I mention mosquitoes? Yep, lots of them.

I didn’t enjoy this hike as much as I had hoped. It was very rocky up to the falls as well as the surrounding area. There were no signs to the falls so we weren’t sure if we had made it or not. However, the scenery was beyond beautiful. Although it was a rough trek it was definitely worth the view.

Didnt go very far but it was nice!

Easy to follow, have to deal with cows after you pass the falls.... your in an open range
