Took my family on the Delta Lake hike this morning, me, my wife, My son 15 and daughter 11. It was amazing. We started at 840AM and ended back at the lot at 225 PM with an hour spent at Delta Lake. Word to the wise for parents wanting to bring their kids; this is not for non active children. My 15 year old handled it great. My 11 year old struggled with the switchbacks headed up over the first 3 miles. But she was determined to get to the EPIC destination. The first of the Boulder fields is not extremely difficult. The second boulder field does create some challenges. But taking it slow and methodical and follow the cairns is the best bet. The lake is pristine and everything you expect it to be. And COLD. Both my kids came prepared and took the plunge to a round of applause from the other hikers. Only to promptly exit and ask for their towel they brought!

The way down is slick through the boulder fields. Slow and steady.

GPS showed 7.2 miles RT.

Our only regret was that we did not start sooner to spend more time at Delta Lake. You will want to spend time there.
