Beginning of trail is a nice walk in the woods. Forest is quite dense so visibility in early September is not very far. Views of lakes are nice but shores are quite overgrown. Trails by lakes have been cut and are about 20’ wide on the entire walk back to parking lot. About half the way. I would rate it Easy.

Nice hike. A bit much for us just starting out the season. Seemed like way more than 3 miles lol. Nice views of the lake. Probably will be much prettier when the trees all leaf out.

Oops. Ment to hit four stars. A very pretty hike in fall with lots of wildfoul and colorful foliage.

The hike was easy and also very enjoyable. There was a nice little 'beach' area off the trail. Will definitely do again with my dog.

Had a nice hike on this trail today. It was a good start to the hiking season.

I live here, I would say that it is probably more interesting if you change your route slightly and ride State Park Rd between Whitewater and Rice Lakes. Also, there is an impossible hill to climb if you ride Engel Rd north to south, so make sure you do it south to north. There's another hill on the east side of Whitewater Lake that's quite a climb, but the seasoned cyclist should have no trouble.

Not moderate difficulty. But a nice walk in the woods. Good trail for the dogs.

Good fun walk in the woods. Would definitely recommend for those looking for an easy trail on a nice day.

Great trail, maintained well and thoroughly enjoyable. Only downside is there is no water for four miles. We took two dogs on the hottest day of the year and ran out of water at the vista. Only took us an hour and 20 min to get back from the whitewater vista. Lots of bugs so don't forget your spray!

Nice easy moderate hike, went early in the morning right around sunrise and had the trail all to my self.

trail running

Being distance runner, I went to this trail regularly during my college days. It's a beautiful trail, with varying degrees of difficulty and distances. I usually ran the blue loop, which is around 9 miles. Over the past few years things have changed a bit, and the loops are a bit different than they were when I frequented this trail. They are still fantastic trails though. I believe there is also some excellent biking trails across the road from these trails.
