Somewhat hard to follow the trail since there are so many forks, but I think all of the trails end up at the same place. It was beautiful! Definitely will go again

Beautiful trail; on Mar 18 2018 the trail was filled heavily with mud and parts with a light covering of ice.

Quick and scenic, Cave Point is free and has some of the best views of shallow cliffs along Lake Michigan. Constant wave action causes fractures and dissolution textures in this Silurian Dolomite. In winter, the cliffs have many icicles.

Right now, it's a tough hike with sticky mud all the way up the hill. But in short order, it'll be dry and sweet-smelling with native prairie grasses - noisy with peepers - and popular with hikers and bikers. My Yorkie mix pup Nellie Bly and I did a short mile loop. But there are a few choices - and steeper climbs.

Easy trail between Devils staircase and a beautiful creek as you head toward JSOL. A cool fully shaded hike in summer.

Great views at every turn!

Large parking lot - easy trails for the family

Little sloppy this time of the year.

Lovely park close to the city. Day pass for vehicles $5.00, totally worth it. Nice wooded trails and a great hike up the huge snow hill.

Nice trail options off the auto trail depicted. An easy rating seems more appropriate since it’s quite flat and either paved or smooth grass trails. The boardwalk is nice.

Fun/challenging hike for northern Illinois standards. Turned it into about a 5 mile trek by following a few rabbit trails. Backs up to a ski hill so there's some incline. If you live in northern Illinois and are looking for a spot to train for more strenuous hikes elsewhere this is a good spot for it

Great trail. Pretty easy going, not marked all that well , which is great because few ppl come up this far to hike it. An added bonus on this trail is The Place Where The Monk Sits. Very very few people know if it’s existence, even among locals. If you can find it, you’ll know it when you’re there. Just be cautious hiking the bluffs. Ring a bottle of wine, a light meal, and enjoy the view as the sun sets or rises in this hidden gem. Bring a headlamp as the trails aren’t marked well.

March 10, 2018
It snowed earlier in the week so we had a few inches of snow to run in. First time on the trail. Great trail, snow covered and all, with several trail route options. I’ll come back after snow has melted!

Love this hike. Nice any time of year. Hiked about five miles of relatively easy trails. Some water - a stream, Springs, and ponds. Plenty of birds. Some climbing if you like that. Great hike right in town with restaurants nearby if you need to refuel. Good for running and biking too.

March 2018 Hike. Not much color because of the season, but a very nice hike. Lots to see with some history, lots of springs, and relatively flat easy hike.

Beautiful Early Spring Hike. Trails were muddy or icy, but gorgeous. Air was brisk. Perfect day with wife, son and dog.

Great loop trail within the city. Ducks, geese, lots of re-winged blackbirds. Southern section is nice as well.

Best go-to set of trails in Eau Claire.

Moderate loop that took us 2 hours on the dot to complete, with minor rest stops at the bluff tops. The lower leg (Tumbled Rocks Trail) offered a surprisingly cool landscape.

Nice...A little muddy after the spring thaw but it’s great to be out

Early March snowshoeing trip with crusty snow and a snowshoe that broke halfway through, making for a more strenuous trip than expected. I would rate this hike as easy under normal conditions. Wide, well marked trail with little elevation change and sizable portion of route on a blacktop road.

You can hear the traffic from the road 3/4 of the trail .. also it’s a very small space and you’re just walking in circles

We hiked this one today (Mar 2) and enjoyed a nice day out in the sunshine. The specific route shown here is not good for winter hiking because it turns onto a cross country ski only trail that is groomed for skiing only and doesn't allow hiking. But there are plenty of other routes in this park to hike. It's not an ideal winter trail though because it's mostly used for snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles, so you're essentially walking on packed machine tracks. The other thing to watch if you've never been here before is to not let the directions take you to the trail head, because it directs you to where the trail crosses Elmira Ave and not the actual parking lot off of Wyoming Ave. This seems like a really nice area to hike so I look forward to coming back this summer.

The parking lot was just about empty when I pulled in on one of the first nice days of late winter/early spring. I was excited about that, but it should have been my first clue. I loaded up a trail map, knowing other reviews had said the trails are poorly marked. “How bad could it be?” I thought. Well I wasn’t expecting everything to be covered in a thick layer of melting snow and ice (there was almost no snow left anywhere else in town). I looked down at my gym shoes but figured I’d give it a try. I walk up to one trailhead and see “no walking on trails!” Well that’s a first. Went up to another and it says “wrong way.” Okay... clearly a trail system for xc skis. No worries - it’s a big park and I’m sure I’ll find something. Finally came to a point where I found the original trail I was trying to find (at its halfway point, where it crosses). Beautiful trail but covered in a slippery, icy mess; nearly fell off the hill a few times. Made it down thinking the rest of the trail would be okay, but it led me back to that original point of “no walking.” I tried circumnavigating the rest of the front part of the park but could not find anything worth walking on. Part of the problem was the icy/melting conditions that I was not expecting, but a huge factor was the very confusing layout. I’d try again on a dry, warm day, but today I’m disappointed.

Really unique and beautiful - kids had a blast as well. The potholes are so much fun to see, and the scenic overlooks on the Saint Croix are breathtaking. Definitely will go back to do more exploring.

Unmarked trails but if you stick to the outside you will be fine on the loop. Recommend going to the top of the “mountain” great views!
Brought my pup and ran into a few other people with dogs. Very friendly.

It was worth the 3 Hour drive. The snow and ice made more special.
