The topo information listed here is incorrect. *Definitely* not a 65 mile trail - maybe 3 miles total, and only a few hills with a gradual climb, no steep hills. The only strenuous climb would be the observation tower. This is an easy hike, great for kids. Dogs are allowed if leashed.
Be aware that there are no restrooms available when the nature center is closed, which means all weekend.
We went on a spring day when it had rained a ton, so it was muddy but still a great walk. We saw more birds than expected - robins, a zillion redwing blackbirds, lots of swallows and even a bittern on the pond. The lookout tower is a great spot. If a bathroom and water had been available, this would have been a five-star family walk.
