Good biking trail

Parts of the trail are washed out by the river right now.

Nice views!

Love this trail. You can rent bikes, swim, buy a kite, rent jet skis or paddle boats and stop for a bit or a beer or a coffee.

Nice easy paved trail. Heavily used. Not well marked but lots of alternative paths. Great views of mansions, lake, marina and skyline.

nice place doing it tomorrow

I enjoyed this hike. Lots of little break offs to explore and nice connections to the river. There was a lot of bush and the trail of wasn’t super well kept. And the BUGS WERE HORRIBLE!!! I was covered in bug bites by the time I left so if you do this trail don’t forget your big spray!!

We started at the museum of art and did the memorial park loop and the headed north just to/past the beach area past tower drive and back for a 6 mi round trip loop. The oak leaf trail portions that we did were great for rollerblading, there was only one section near the memorial park loop that was not great for blading but not terrible. Would do it again and use different trail to get through memorial park for rollerblading.

Beautiful, flat paved trail to walk along near the water.

This was my first attempt at hiking and I chose this trail cause it was under the easy category. The trail is easy in the sense that there isn’t a lot of hills, the terrain is mostly flat. However if you are a beginner I would choose a much shorter trail. This trail is 19 miles long. In 2 hours we had hiked 5 miles and I turned around and went back to the car. Ultimately we ended up doing 10.5 miles in just under 4 hours. Needless to say we were pooped and quite sore when we returned to our vehicle. The scenery is peaceful and nice to look at. There are a lot of bikers so be prepared to move over a lot.

I loved this trail great scenery! However, spiders were an issue at times, but the trail was amazing and it's near one of my favorite golf courses.

A good city stroll when you need some fresh air.

This is an amazing trail if you live in the area. There is not too much that is spectacular about it, but it does have a nice lake and a hidden waterfall if you can find it. Enjoy the friendly deer population here as well!

The Arboretum is 40 acres of urban nature uniquely managed as an outdoor classroom, research site and public sanctuary - free for everyone to enjoy! The Arboretum is all about connecting people with nature in their neighborhood, and provides many community and ecological benefits, including:

Expanding the outdoor classroom used by Urban Ecology Center educators. Increasing diversity of native plant species that provide a source of seed stock for the region and provide a better habitat for native wildlife. Improving water quality and reducing storm water runoff by replacing invasive species with deep-rooted native species. Increasing opportunities for ecological research in a unique urban environment. Increasing community access to the Milwaukee River with a path accessible to those with limited mobility and families with strollers.

Really nice park with a cool interconnecting trail system but there's a lot of people and it's very flat

I rode along the Hank Aaron Trail as they were developing it into what it is today. I haven't been through since they finished the miller park way/canal street areas but i remember it being a beautiful hidden trail. Once you get past Palermo's it was kinda gross with the bio pool and warehouses along the trail nearing Potowatomi but i'm not sure how that's changed in 3 years or more since I was there... I know the part nearer Miller Park was a beautiful river trail with wildflowers galore and cool little bridges crossing over to woodsy areas.

I used to ride my bike from shorewood through downtown multiple times per day and loved the change in environment throughout. It goes from suburban feeling to urban to woodsy and back to urban and it is nice if you're not looking for that solitude. I like that i've seen some weird creatures on this trail as well.

If you are looking for that solitude there are points along the trail were you can veer off and get down to the river and sit on the banks and watch ducks or herons or the strange river creatures. If i was a mountain biker i would definitely explore doing that because I once found some kids with their BMX bikes in this dirt area jumping hills in the trees off the trail.

Good walk, lots of open spaces. Little bit more exposed than expected

This trail is awesome, with the exception of the industrial area of the Menomonee valley.

The trail system is actually 10-20 miles long and crosses several major 4-6 lane roads. There is a group ride every Tuesday starting at 6:30, I believe, which I highly recommend just so you can get a feel for where the trail goes. There is a hard to follow section through some normal width roads which is the only way to follow the trail, so if you want to maximize the amount of trail you can ride, I again recommend going with the group the first time you go. Also, beware of LOTS of broken glass in the section within the park, close to the jumps.

great trail for beginners. few cool little parts for expert riders. even a small little jump section. fairly short...about 2.5 miles. all in all its a pretty decent ride

The map on AllTrails is not accurate. The trail is actually a couple miles west on Swan Road behind the County Parks property and the Escweiler Buildings. By the way, I'm only submitting one star on this trail because you have to pick a rating to submit a comment.

I ran this trail several times while preparing for a marathon. While it is rumored that the trail will provide more off-road pathways in the future, at this time it seems that the much of the trail follows city streets. It is mostly flat, paved, and does have a nice off-road stretch along Lake Michigan (Bay View) as well as the Menomonee River (Wauwatosa). There are other runners on the trail, but it is is largely used for biking.
