Lovely trail for August. I suspect it would be very wet and “buggy” in early summer. Thimble berries in great abundance and just getting ripe - we picked s lot of these tasty berries on our hike.

Good view of the lake at a ledge shortly after the start. Nice woodlands walk thereafter. Keep Alltrails app open to stay on the trail - easy to take a wrong turn.

Nice pretty easy trail with lots of views and variety of landscaping. Some mud in places and bring bug spray. A few parts you’ll have to climb over logs or rocks but otherwise not challenging.

beautiful trail, but the biting flies at the overlook were pretty bad.

10am, early July. 75 degrees. Bring the bug spray x10. I was okay but my husband was chewed up, both of us were coated in spray. That said it's a nice wide path, well-maintained, no great inclines, good for kids. Saw frogs, no snakes. Very shady, a bit wet.

Overall, a nice trail, well-packed and had amazing (albeit, potentially-treacherous) views at the cliffs edges. I am surprised that local hikers haven't made even a makeshift marking system with the county, although we were told by a local man we met on the road, that the county was 'getting' much if the private property in a few weeks. My husband I have walked many pilgrimage routes (Camino de Santiago/Spain, Winchester to Canterbury, several in Germany, Western Way in Ireland, etc.) and have never gotten lost. we knew that we were not 'lost' on this trail but the lack of markings nor Trail Key (ski trail markings gave no clue to where we were) gave a hint of where the 'red arrows, stripes) were leading. This seems like a relatively easy task for local trail enthusiasts and we'll try the trail again next year. I would CAUTION parents with wandering little kids to try other trails, but bear unguarded cliffs. Too many overlooks with zero railing and an easy plunge to one's death for pets and toddlers. OK if held tightly by a parent and kept away from loose gravel, rocks and mud at edges...call me paranoid--beautiful but could be slippery. Door County has a plethora of great trails, though, and will look forward to trying this one again.

I love a loop trail. This was easy, well marked, great for kids. We did it first in one direction and then did the opposite immediately after. Took about 40 min total. Had signs with info about things you'll find in the trail along the way. There are bathrooms at trailhead.

Beautiful views!!

Very pretty & family friendly trail. We saw an eagle on our hike which was a highlight.

Beautiful trail with access to the beach and forested trails!

Only did 1/4 of the hike and turned back. Big elevation changes and lots of beautiful unique tree roots and rocks along the bluffs.

Beautiful spots along the lake.

Easy trail, beautiful views of Lake Michigan.

A nice trail with turn offs to the shore. I was disappointed because per the ratings it was supposed to be “difficult” and it very flat and easy. Does not have the elevations stated

Beautiful view but the trails split often and were not marked. We ended up on a trail that brought us back to the path we can in on.

First part follows the bluff and has Unique rooted paths. First third is the most scenic and challenging. Second third is just a nice stroll in the woods. Last third he’s just a walk up the road back to the vehicle.

An easy trail. Be cautious with young kids along bluff side. Well worn trailhead. No blazes. Ran into a couple who claimed we were hiking on private land but we followed exact route on app, so this was somewhat confusing. Pretty forest and bluff views. Trail surface dirt lots of roots along bluff edge.

Not a bad trail but definitely had to pay attention otherwise you could get lost.

A great backpack only state park. I checked out all the sites and hiked most of the trails. Great scenery and a constant sound of the waves on the shore. All sites are remote from each other. If you love backpacking or just hiking, this is a great way to spend the weekend or the day. Reserve early.

I hiked this trail with my sister, and we agree that the trail is not well marked. We started from the trailhead at the parking lot along the shore of the bay and then moved away from the shore into the woods. We looped around and came upon a road that looked like access road for county maintenance. We didn’t see a trail so we turned back and back-tracked to the car. As we were driving out, we realized that we should’ve followed the access road back to the parking lot. We added some time and distance to the hike but we both enjoyed it! We would do this again.

A pleasant hike through the forest with nice turn offs to the lake shore for great views. Fellow hikers few and far between.

We did not do the whole 10.7 miles (we had a cranky 4 year old with us who was not happy to ride on her dad's back), but we probably did about 2-3 miles of the loop total. What we did was really nice, with some great views of the lake. The trail was well-marked, too.

Great trail. Pretty easy going, not marked all that well , which is great because few ppl come up this far to hike it. An added bonus on this trail is The Place Where The Monk Sits. Very very few people know if it’s existence, even among locals. If you can find it, you’ll know it when you’re there. Just be cautious hiking the bluffs. Ring a bottle of wine, a light meal, and enjoy the view as the sun sets or rises in this hidden gem. Bring a headlamp as the trails aren’t marked well.

Such amazing deep greens and rock formations. It was very quiet when we visited and we felt as if we had the park to ourselves

Nice trail but not very well marked with minimal views of the lake.
