Cross Plains, Wisconsin Map

I like this trail for the views, easy and harder options for incline, and the fact that it offers some woods and some sun!

Good trail but really narrow in many spots. Definitely wear hikers & not sneakers.

The park was beautiful and had many other great trail options but this loop around the lake was extremely muddy and not well maintained currently (probably due to the mud). I’d recommend Indian Lake park but check out some other paths and avoid this one right now.

The trail was great! The two trailheads are definitely a workout but worth it for nice views. There was a variety of scenery we really enjoyed!

We love this hike! It’s a great mix of woods, prairie, a bit of climbing, and uphill/downhill. I would say that it’s moderate due to the uphill parts but we enjoy it with the whole family including grandma, a three year old and the dog. We skip the gravel hill and walk on the city street (look at map closely) by cutting through the prairie to get back to the start.

Wonderful 5+ mile hike. There were a few muddy spots at the beginning but, once you’re past the boat landing, the mud was gone. This trail spends a lot of time in the cool shade of the woods. It is very hilly in the woods so be ready for a workout!

Loved this trail! Can be muddy, especially in the spring. Had a variety of terrain, views, & wildlife.

This trail was great for our pups, but the mud was a bit much for us around the lake portion. We are walking away with our socks soaked and mud covered. The trail is a bit unpredictable in terms of hills but the paths are well kept and easy to follow. We would definitely visit again, but maybe after a few days of sunshine.

#11 Indian Lake

Indian Lake has become our go-to hiking trail. We love the wooded trails with many options. It is also gorgeous! Especially at sunset. ♡

Pretty prairie

Classic southern WI trail run -- probably my new favorite Ice Age trail section near Madison. Rolling hills thru forest and prairie, some good overlooks and open sky. Saw a couple snakes which I was not expecting as well!

nice winter hike...trail nice and packed

Great trail! My dog loved it. A bit icy right now, but not bad.

Great trail for all ages. Hiked it with my my wife the last two mid-Decembers. Go early for more wildlife opportunities, like deer and pileated woodpeckers.

Great shorter trail with a few hills. Beautiful little spot perfect for the pups!

The biggest challenge is getting up the trailheads, a gravel road at one end, rock stairs at the other. But once you're up there, it's a lovely, peaceful hike. My dogs have always loved it, too. Sit a spell on the south facing bench overlooking downtown Cross Plains on a clear, crisp fall day, aaahhhhh!

Lovely & scenic, though the trailheads (rock stairs at one end, gravel access road at the other) might be a challenge for some to get up. But once you're up there it's a great, easy hike. Dog friendly (check doggie for ticks after your adventure). We love to sit on the bench above Cross Plains on a cold, clear day!

Challenging run through prairie and rolling hills of back forest. Bluff views are largely obstructed and overgrown.

Classic Wisconsin ridge hike. Through some woods and prairie and along a bluff overlooking farmland.

This has been (and continues to be) a favorite of mine for several years.

Skiing here is awesome, and there are some fun short loops with a thrill! Hiking is great especially if you’re looking for long views of the town of Berry.
