We just finished the Wingra Woods portion of the trail with the kids. Pretty easy walking, great scenery, and we even saw some turkeys. I could see the mosquitoes being bad in the summer, but it’s perfect in the fall.

Beautiful Fall colors. Quiet and lightly traveled. A few trail choices to provide some variety. Well worth a trip North.

This trail is a GEM! My 10-yr-old and I hiked it late afternoon today. Great views of Star Lake for most of the hike. Some narrow trails on the edges of elevated areas, a few benches sprinkled throughout for quick rests.

Even as experienced hikers, we enjoyed!

Awesome hike, did it this past weekend in about 25 hours. The to climbs are not to be underrated, but are doable. There are lots of scenic bluffs which are awesome to take a look at. We had a great time hiking this and would definitely recommend it.

I hiked the 2.5 mile yellow loop that goes between the two lakes. Beautiful forest, especially in the fall. The trail is well groomed and easy to hike although there are some inclines that would give the trail it's moderate rating. I can imagine this trail being great in the winter for cross country skiing. A few access points to the lakes are really nice.

Very nice undulating elevation consistently throughout 5 mile loop.

Very pretty trail with lots of informational markers about the wildlife and vegetation along the way. Relatively flat and very easy to hike. The trail could be better marked, however, as I easily wandered off onto side trails without realizing it. Since the trail itself is a series of loops, it doesn't really matter if you wander off as the abundance of side trails and wide open visibility make it easy to navigate back to where you want to go.
