Quick and scenic, Cave Point is free and has some of the best views of shallow cliffs along Lake Michigan. Constant wave action causes fractures and dissolution textures in this Silurian Dolomite. In winter, the cliffs have many icicles.

Great hike! A good workout and a nice reward at the painted sand cave.

The view is great but the recent addition of the boardwalk section means that you miss the beauty of the woods trying to stay on the walkway.

Hard uphill start but the rest is sloped down. Lovely loop through hilly woods with a nice trickling waterfall and shallow sandstone cave. Very beautiful.

Very nice maintained gravel trails. Not much in the way of distance, but quite nice scenery. Would recommend not going into the caves during warm weather months if you're not fond of large plentiful spiders. Good hike!

good hiking, dog friendly. lots of things to see. take a picture of the map before you head into the trail very little cell service and the trails can get confusing.

Such a beautiful hike! We got started at around 9am on a Friday and had the trail out to ourselves, however, the way back (noonish) was definitely more populated. Very nice and well kept trail. Amazing views at the outlooks! App says moderate difficulty, however, do not be deterred by this - aside from some up and down step paths, this hike is easy.

Beautiful area

I love this trail in all seasons! It's both challenging and beautiful. This trail provides a look at the sea caves from above. It's worth the drive!

The best way to see the sea caves period is by kayak, but the best way on land is this hike. Starting at Meyer's Beach, the first 0.7 miles is boardwalk. After the boardwalk ends, the trail dips steeply in and out of many ravines. First sea cave is at 1.8 miles, but best view is at The Bowl at 2.2 miles. Moderate is the right difficulty rating for this hike, but that partly depends on how far you go. Trail does not loop. Overall, best mainland hike in the Apostle Islands.

I had such a good time on this hike! I tried jogging most of it because i wanted a harder workout and just stopped at the overlooks. So pretty and great for walking or trail running. There are a few side trails to walk along the edge more, and you can go for a longer hike if you continue on, about 5.5 miles out is a campground. I made it about 4.5 miles out when I decided to turn around. Took a break to eat my pb&j at a overlook and watched the kayakers go in the caves.

Easy hike. VERY scenic. This is a great way to work up a sweat right before cooling off in the lake.

Great walk, especially with kids.

very fun hike with the kids. we found a sandy beach north of the county park in the state park with no rocks or big waves for the kids to wade in.

Trail has some muddy sections still, and the first half mile or so is boardwalk. A lot of the trail is away from the water and is just a stroll through the trees. This should be rated as Easy not Moderate, there were plenty of older people and young children doing it. If you continue past the sea caves (1.8 miles in), at 2.5 miles in there's the camera for wavesatseacaves.cee.wisc.edu, and it's a good view there.

It's paved...at least the section I ran. But it's decent and right off the highway so it's super convenient to the interstate travelers

Went the weekend of June 10th. Millions of mosquitoes. it was almost unbearable.

Nice short exploration. Beautiful but not much for a hike.

Dont miss the cave tours!! Excellent. Give this park a little break, its currently being rehabed after tornadoes whipped through and tore it to shreds. Worth the stop and hike!! Fresh spring water, caving, hiking, on a river, lots of picture opportunities! -La Nua Photography

I love this place.

it was an easy hike with a few litte caves but the entrance to the main caves were locked behind steel doors with limited tours.

Fun hike for WI, I'm spoiled after being in some dunes out west

Have been here a few times and loved it! One of few places I have been where there is "singing sand." Beautiful views from dunes.
