I loved the path this trail took around the lake. The viewpoints were beautiful. The cool air was refreshing. The trail was beautiful.
Unfortunately, the path is being paved over so it can be hard on the knees and ankles. Also, the trail does not allow overnight campers so allow time and energy to do it in one day. Also there were $41 in camp and park entrance fees. In addition to all that, the trail and campsite were crowded with loud families. I expected this loop to feel more like a backpacking trip and less like a family vacation tourist trap.

I suppose I should have researched more.

Beautiful waterfall!

This was a great hike.
mostly on a wide ATV access route so walking was easy
Suggest you go counter clockwise as the Lighthouse stop will be near the end of the trail. The trail continues along the shore so you can do a loop.

Great hike-go past the bowls to see the rest of the coastline-out and back 5 miles!

Cool, bring your walking stick for your old knees

My new all time favorite trail in Wisconsin. Not easy, but so worth it. Check it out.

Beautiful trail with many amazing rocks and caves, lots of things that I had never seen before.

Fantastic hike in Lake Michigan. Very friendly and the lighthouse tour was well worth the hike to the other side of the island. This is certainly a gem at the tip of Wisconsin. Put on your hiking shoes, grab a swim suit, and enjoy. Not one mosquito. Many biting flies near the hospitality area, but not at my site. What a nice way to get away. No cell service. So nice!!!! Bring your teenagers and drive them nuts. They may actually break down and talk to you without a text. ;-)
Take the time to go into the hospitality center and look at the boat house underneath. Amazing architecture and the history the island is amazing! I followed the paths all the way around the island. I also check out every site that isn’t occupied just to make notes on where I would stay on future trips. All the “lettered” sites are very secluded and quiet.
Numbered sites are pretty close together, but if you want to meet fellow hikers and camp near the beach, they are best for you.

Great fun trail! Definitely coming back.

We hiked this trail a few days ago. Most of the trail was under a tree canopy and about the first mile was boardwalk. After that, there were some ups and downs and parts of the trail were rocky. When the trees opened so we could view Lake Superior and the sea caves, it was incredible. We went only a little bit past the caves for a total round trip of about 3.5 miles.

Trails poorly marked.

Great views, tons of roots so be aware and muddy/slippery in some spots! We loved it!!

I have done this hike twice and both times it was amazing! The rocky steps on the East Bluff are a little tricky to go up, but it is definitely doable for the average person. I can’t wait to come back!

No parking near entrance to trails. Trail actually starts some where in the road where the road ends. Poison ivy has overtaken both trails.

Went here on the recommendation of a fellow dog walking friend and absolutely fell in love the restaurant place. Stunning views of the lake can be see throughout the trail and so beautifully maintained. The great thing is the walk down to the lake where lots of families picnic and enjoy their day. Dogs are definitely welcomed on leash and the best part is that when the wind is coming from the east the lake trail is actually much cooler and for a mountain dog owner who hates any heat this makes a huge difference.

This is an easy trail. Not sure why it is rated hard. Very little elevation gain. It has some nice views along the water and the cliffs are neat to check out. It was very buggy at about 8am, and wet and muddy in some spots but pretty avoidable overall.

I found that the mileage was slightly off. Don’t like the cracked and bubbled asphalt on West Bluff because you have to watch every step. Watch the slick quartz on the Balanced Rock trail but it is gorgeous!

Great trail.’!! It’s tree lined and on the water’s edge, plus there are some fun rocky areas Accessed the trail from the beach area via the Minnehaha trail.

First off, $13 parking fee. The park was under-construction so there were areas of the trail that were inaccessible. The landscape was gorgeous. Didn’t make it to the falls but it seemed busy coming from that direction.

Gorgeous trail- best in fall and winter!

Beaitiful walk- great workout with all the ups & downs. Saw deer & great lake views.

A family friendly trail! Not meant to be a real challenge. Some rewarding views. Walking along the lake is pleasant. Worth the visit! Just wish the tower was accessible

a real nice hike, lots of good viewpoints overlooking the lake. and at both ends if your feet get tired you can cool them off in the lake.

Able to stench this into a 4.5 mile walk with an occasional walker. Much of it is paved, nice when you get off of the pavement and into some woods. Some nice views of Lake Michigan.

We followed the 5.5 mile Thordarson loop trail that circled the shoreline around the whole island. Clear and easy to follow trail of moderate difficulty. Just a few ups & downs where we had to be careful with the footings. Be sure to check out the sandy shallow beach and shoreline on the Southeastern side of the island. BTW, the trail we were on was a loop, not an out and back as described.

Felt like more of a walk than a hike. Either super sunny or all shade and bugs. Some steep hills which is a good challenge but since it’s all graded felt more like a walk than a hike. The falls were great to see though but PACKED with people swimming and lounging. I’d suggest a weekday.
