We hiked this one today (Mar 2) and enjoyed a nice day out in the sunshine. The specific route shown here is not good for winter hiking because it turns onto a cross country ski only trail that is groomed for skiing only and doesn't allow hiking. But there are plenty of other routes in this park to hike. It's not an ideal winter trail though because it's mostly used for snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles, so you're essentially walking on packed machine tracks. The other thing to watch if you've never been here before is to not let the directions take you to the trail head, because it directs you to where the trail crosses Elmira Ave and not the actual parking lot off of Wyoming Ave. This seems like a really nice area to hike so I look forward to coming back this summer.

scenic area, lots of good restaurants and shops if you want to stop in downtown Racine

The Bugline trek started in May 2017 and is still continuing throughout the seasons. It was my first railroad trail I've hiked on. I will always remember my first! Overall, the condition is excellent, the views are awesome (guy stuff if you like quarries) and piece & quiet are so inner, self- healing.

During the winter hike, the temp was rather cold, but right across from the Cop Shop / Fire Station in Lannon is Mibb's & Viv's. Friday fish fries are very good, reasonably priced and so are the Margaritas. YUM.

This loop is an easy walk. It is very sunny in spots. I recommend bringing water in summer, even though the lop can be walked in under an hour and a half or two hours for slow-ish walkers. At points there is quite a bit of traffic noise.

This is a short trail, but a nice option in the middle of the city. It’s peaceful and quiet. Love that my dog can come with. Kids love the park it’s attached to.

This is a great little pea gravel trail for a short hike without having to leave town. Runs behind the timber rattlers trial to if you time it right you might catch a part of the game or a ball!

If you're looking for a place to just walk between classes or on a lunch break. This'll do the trick. Otherwise its not good for much else. Loud from the city and and short loops.

Quick stroll & another high point crossed off the list!

Loved the lookout tower!

My husband and I enjoyed a walking through the woods. Can't wait to back and explore more.

If you're not following the river you're on the wrong trail! This is a beautiful hike past a golf course, along a river, and through the woods. Worth it to find the correct trail head.

This place is awesome!!! There are tons of trails through the trees with a lot of varied elevations, some steep hills and thin trails. I got through about 4 miles of trails in the woods. I skipped one sketchy looking bridge this time so I didn't go all the way around. Cell service for Verizon is weak @ 3G mostly so bring an extra charger if using gps. Definitely recommend having a gps app or a detailed map saved. Probably easy to get turned around in there. If my battery wasn't almost dead I would have stayed in there another 4 miles. Hiking shoes are a must. It's muddy and going down the steep dirt trails is slippery. I will be back soon, with snacks and extra chargers. Amazing and worth the hour drive from IL.

I don't think the highlighted trail actually exists. this is a park, and there are only paved paths. if you want to walk past some picnic benches and a baseball diamond, this is the place for you. maybe I'm blind and don't see the actual trail, who knows...

Easy and flat. Peaceful in many parts but there is City noise and views. Are use it each time I come to town which is twice a year. One of the few places with asphalt instead of concrete.

This trail is beautiful! Full of lots of different scenery. DO NOT try to follow this trail through the woods though!! There is way too much overgrowth and the trail leads to a dead end. Instead stick to the gravel, asphalt, or grassy areas. Giving this a 4 because the recommended trail is not walkable anymore, but otherwise loved it.

This was a fun trail to explore, but it was hard to navigate while walking my dog. I constantly had to stop and double check if I was on the right path with my GPS. A couple of times we got off-course, but overall I enjoyed the sights and so did my pup.

I ran this trail out and back (9 miles). It was nice because it was flat and had some beautiful views along the way.

good trail to walk with friends

this is a horrid trail. runs along highway, very noisy. Areas filled with sand instead of gravel which cause you to nearly fall and not always noticeable in the gravel till you're on top of it. poorly maintained. Dont think any funds from trail fees to ride the trail are going toward its maintenance. find another trail in this fantastic biking area of southeastern wi instead.

A phenomenal hike. Living in between two major cities (Chicago and Milwaukee), finding beautiful nature is a rarity. Petrifying Springs is a rarity. I hiked this park for the past two days, a few hours each, and am still in awe of its beauty. While the hike itself isn't too intense, it's definitely a bit of the challenge--especially with the slushy mud and trails with plants growing on them. Fortunately, it was a challenge that I found enjoyable. I highly recommend deviating from the paved trail and diving into the trails within the actual forest. I also highly recommend bug spray... there are an excruciating amount of bugs. The cons of this park is it's location. When immersed in the forest, you don't notice you're less than a mile within a golf course. But you are. That results in occasionally hearing loud chatter, the sounds of golf carts, or a golf ball getting struck. This, however, does not ruin the hiking experience and I would highly recommend this trail for an enjoyable hike.

It's paved...at least the section I ran. But it's decent and right off the highway so it's super convenient to the interstate travelers

From AZ visiting the area. I would not even remotely consider this a "moderate" trail. Easy is the only description to describe its difficulty. That being said, it's a beautiful hike. Lots of greenery and wildlife. Quite the departure from what I'm used to in the dessert. I started at the trailhead in Cottage Grove and went 4 miles out then back. The trail goes much farther if you want. I really enjoyed this one.

Trail condition Sunday 6/18/17 a.m. - wet but rideable, some low spots are muddy. Definitely muddier and standing water on the UW trails. Slippery roots. Otherwise a nice ride!

Went out this afternoon and walked 2 miles in 45 mins. Saw 3 other groups of folks including one young family. Trails in pretty good condition after winter. Saw two butterflies and quite a few little blue flowers.some trees budding and some undergrowth putting on leaves.
