Great trail...Locals need to learn how to read...or perhaps they don't understand what "kept on a leash" means...

new too the area and love mountain biking, one reason I moved here

Great hike. Definitely watch for rattlesnakes in the open part of the clay run trail

The trail offers an escape from commuters which was great. It is very clean and well maintained.

Went on the hike yesterday morning, and the temperature was perfect. We took the North Mont Chateau trail and veered off into some other trails, and at the end clocked in at about 11.5 miles (with 175 floors climbed)! The hike is marked well and has some great views. Walking in between some of the massive rocks, seeing the Iron Furnace and seeing the mini-beach at Cheat Lake were some of the biggest highlights. The overlook of Coopers Rock is amazing but was extremely crowded. If you come during early morning, you may have a better experience. Overall great hike, definitely worth the 5 hours for me. Check out some of my photos. Sitting down afterwards was great haha

Limited parking, but great for something not too far away from the city.

Grew up with this trail love it!!!

Drove 10 miles from rte 33 to trailhead at Glady. Locked gate across Trail and mud hole where hiker mightaccess. No access possible other than climb over gate. Disappointing to drive that far in vain.

I had a day off and decided to hike this trail, since all the reviews said the trail was marked and easily followed I knew it would be a great hike. Unfortunately, it's not marked all that great and I ended up taking wrong turn that resulted in 1.5 miles out and back to get back onto the trail turning my 5 mile hike into 8.
I used the app the rest of the trail until i happened upon the end of it which wasn't well marked at all and eventually I just followed the road. Everything was beautiful, and had this been at my peak fitness a couple years ago I wouldn't have felt like I was going to die. I'd recommend using the app to guide you if you're going to follow this trail as it is actually a loop around several connecting trails. If you do that, you'll likely have a much better experience than I. Happy Trails!

a lot of uphill but wonderfully taken care of and great for weight loss and muscle building. great scenic stops and places to rest as well.

Trail starts great down through huge boulders. Declines down into a valley with a beautiful creek and the clay furnace. The second half of the trail is pretty open without a lot of great scenery.

A quiet and easy uphill trail with limited parking at the base. The views of downtown from the top are wonderful and the trail works as a nice escape from the city in a pinch.

Excellent trail for hiking as well as seeing different fungi and flowers from spring to fall!

Pleasant walk, gradual uphill grade.

Great Bike/Walking trail. Lots of people enjoy this trail on a daily basis, both on bike and by foot.

The trail was in great shape! Perfect time of year to see wildlife and fall foliage.

Robe this trail 15 years ago. But now plan to ride it every year. Lots of changes and new camping spots added.

Nice walk but not what I would call a trail. It was very crowded and noisy but well worth the time.

This trail was the first one we rode with our new bikes and did so on the way home from purchasing our new toys. Since it is close to home, we go here about once a week. It is an easy trail and is not crowded at all. There is a slight grade out of Weirton, but the ride back is all downhill. This is a great trail for anyone to enjoy. Have fun!

Was a great trial, however, I'm only giving it a 4 star because once you get to the top and start down the other side it was not properly marked.

You start on Davis Creek trail and split off on white hollow trail. It is not called Kanawha state forest trail. The sign leading to White Hollow trail was blazed orange, but the blazes through the trail were blue ! Once you are to the top you must walk down a gravel road a piece and reconnect with white hollow trail. Once you go down the trail and make it to the look out rock is where the blazes become confusing. There are lighter blue markers leading to the right wrap around the rock, but the trail actually goes over the hill and to the left. Once you make it to the bottom, you will need to either go back the way you came or walk down the main road a piece and reconnect with Davis Creek trail.

This trail is very challenging in places and easy in others. Overall this was a great hike !!!

The recommended route is good - except the final stretch on the clay trail is open to the sun and is a flat fire road - probably could have taken a different course. Highly recommend deviating at the beginning and starting on rattlesnake trail and then cutting over along the giant boulders. Very beautiful.

great hike with my dogs.

Good hike on a beautiful day. The rock city trail will test your feet but still a good loop. Be sure to check out Ravens Rock.

I did 2.25 miles ... it's a nice river walk ... quiet and peaceful ... scenery was ok. good place to bike, jog, or walk.

Took the dogs for a walk on this trail and went about a mile. The trail was clear, clean, and mowed. It is flat so not challenging that way. A couple places to watch a creek.

Nice scenic trail. Tranquil

This is a well marked great trail that will give a hiker lots of varying terrain and plenty of large fissures to explore within the boulders. The snow gave us a layer of difficulty that was not expected but added beauty to one's senses.

I really enjoyed this park. Park in the main lot by Cooper's Rock and walk 5 min to the really nice and fenced in observation area on top. A trail takes you below the rock and right through a really neat rock garden that's fun to explore. Once through that stone labyrinth you can take a trail down to a secluded beach on Cheat Lake or go uphill past an old iron furnace ruins to the road. Follow the road to the Raven Rock trail and walk a mike or so to the rock outcropping. Raven Rock is not fenced so be careful. It is the best photo spot in the park followed by Cooper's Rock. Don't miss either one. The gift store below the parking lot has great food and souvenirs, too. This was one of my favorite hikes!
