I’ve hiked this trail a few times. I enjoy the trail and it isn’t very difficult. While the forest is beautiful to walk through there aren’t many opening for more “grand” views which is I have it 4 Stars. I definitely recommend to anyone on the area looking for a smaller hike that kills a few hours. I didn’t go off trail and explore much so my experience is strictly from the trail. Happy hiking!

It was a good trail except the end could be difficult if it's wet out because you follow the edge of the mountain to junction with middle fork trail

some of my favorite hikes in the mon nat'l forest include the middle fork trail. it has several areas to set up camp along or not to far off the trail, the big beachy falls is awesome and hells for certain is very cool as well it offers a waterfall as well, the only kicker is you have to Wade through water to get to camp. but it's way worth it. happy hiking.- scout

Miss covers everything. Red spruce dominate forest. When the sun is coming in from the West it is almost like walking into a candle lit cathedral.

I have hiked this trail as a part of loop with the middle fork trail. If starting the trail from the middle fork be prepared for a long steep uphill hike. The trail is well defined however there are several large trees that are down on the trail. After climbing to the top, the trail follows along a ridge and has areas of moss covered trails and huge rocks. There are only a couple of camp sites on top of Big Beechy mountain and no water. The trail itself is approx. 7 miles. We hiked it backwards down the mountain and camped at the middle fork river intersection. There is a beautiful waterfall at this junction and lots of well used camp sites. We saw no one on this trail and the hike is highly recommended as part of a loop with middle fork trail.
