Five stars if you pair it with Tibbet Knob. You get about 8 miles and about 2000 total feet. The hike up Tibbet Knob is the more of a scramble but the views are less impressive. I recommend doing Big Schloss second for the bigger payoff. The best views are to the north and slightly west so in the fall photos remain good even into the afternoon.

paired this with tibbet knob.. totaled about 8 miles . went eith dog, he got a little scared after the bridge but had fun either way. great views all the way

Beautiful views. Great day hike! Just enough uphill to make it a little bit of a workout, but not bad. The rocks twist a little under the boots so have to watch your footing. It was a little of a busy trail...definitely not the busiest we have been on.

This was my first big hike. it's special to me because my family settled the areas on both sides of the mountain.. The Bowers family in VA and Heishman family in Trout Run.

So for me, the hike was worth the insane first mile uphill. Once it levels off, you get a bit of a break while you hike the top of the mountain. Lots of great places to stop along the way and see the valleys.

The bridge is really neat, and not something you see much of on trails. I really enjoyed just sitting alone at the summit, enjoying the breeze and taking pics. Believe it or not, you can get 4G up there!

I first went in April 2017. Then did Tibbett Knob later in the year with my daughters.

Be careful of the drive up. Lots of blind curves and a narrow road. People take the curves pretty quick and we had to pull onto the shoulder a couple of times to avoid getting smashed.

First mile is uphill with plenty of rocks. After that it is still rocky but levels off. Great views along the way. Definitely worth dealing with the ascent.

Amazing hike! Killer first mile uphill though

We thought we got there early (around 10) and there were about ten vehicles. we spotted only a few groups on the trail but as we were leaving (around 1300) it got busy. I suggest going earlier or go during a weekday.

The first part is all uphill and is killer but it evens out about halfway up the trail. Views are amazing and worth it!!! So beautiful.

Rocky. Recommend good shoes. Excellent hike with beautiful views.

Combined Tibbet Knob Trail with Big Schloss Trail for a 7.5 mile hike with 2000 ft elev. gain. A good workout. Highly recommended.

great view from the bridge as well from the rocks at the very end. a great place to overlook 2 valleys!

Pretty walk thru nice views but the last portion more moderate than easy for this beginner

Great trail. Steep climb for about a mile, then levels off along the ridge. Beautiful views. Trail is pretty rocky - so would only recommend sturdy hiking boots. Looking forward to completing Tibbett Knob next.

Nice trail, located at Huntington Museum of Art not Ritter Park. I believe there are 2 more trails there also.

It was a beautiful day to wake up at the gap and decide against doing an 18 miler and just do Big Schloss. I left around 8/9am and ran into a few people but it was generally empty. The trail got a bit more crowded as I returned but nothing out of hand. A beautiful hike for sure and a nice breeze when you get to the ridge.

scenic and easy

It was a little over crowded and rocky but those views at the overlook make up for that!

Nice trail. Good workout.

Nice easy trail.

One of the best hikes in the East !

Stunning in mid October

Lots of fun side paths - fun place to play in the water

Can't get lost even if u try to.

Great light hike. Needs a little TLC.

A great moderate hike with amazing views at the top!

A fun day hike for sure with a good reward at the end with great views. We saw some rock climbers while hiking that looked like they were gonna stay the night on top. A nice hike for the region.

Took the doggos on these trails today. The water fall vista trail was a little muddy, but it's the woods. There will be mud. Nice hike. Easy. Dogs had a great time and so did we. They provide poop bags if you don't bring your own and a couple waste disposals. Good day.
