Most of this crushed stone 0.75 mile loop trail is ADA accessible and offers visitors a brief history of the basin area for which it surrounds with interpretive signage. The basin was once the drinking water reservoir for the city of Morgantown. Now drained, the area is rich in different aquatic habitats, Alder groves and bird activity. Several other trails spur off of this loop trail located is the center of the WV Botanic Garden.
