This is a lovely hike that is worth the views. I biked up the first 2.4 miles, decided it was safer for my skill level to hike the rest :). I saw 4 others who biked the whole trail, I would recommend it for fit, skilled riders. The usual dirt, rocks, roots and stream crossings (that didn’t get your feet wet at this time of year). It’s always fun to reach the PCT and see through-hikers about ready to finish that incredible journey.

Nice, easy hike to bring the dogs on. Easy to access. Gorgeous golden larches everywhere! .

bugs have mostly died off! amazing area. the hike has a very steady incline... pretty easy on the knees

We were there the first week of August 2018. Very easy hike - we were there with our daughters who are 5 and 9 years old as well as with the grandparents (68 y/o). Beautiful view of the mountains, and a beautiful lake. We saw it from afar while doing Maple Pass trail and decided to take the grandparents here. Once at the lake, we took the trail that goes to the right of the lake and gives you some pretty views!!!
Nice easy trail for young kids and people who prefer a more easy going route.

This is a nice little hike that can be a bit challenging if you try to do it in the hotter part of the day. There is very little shade along the way and certainly plan for plenty of water breaks (and bring enough along for doggos if you bring them with you). It is uphill to the top (duh) and will certainly give you plenty of exercise on the ascent. It is worth it, though, with nice views of The Valley and Patterson Lake.

I definitely recommend an early start and you might check the wildfire conditions before you go. The Crescent Mountain and Gilbert fires are active about 13 miles up the Twisp River and there is quite a lot of haze and smoke limiting the visibility. Other than the visibility today, it was certainly a worthwhile hike.

Great little hike. Easily done in a hour and a half (to the summit and completing the loop) with water breaks and rests for my 2 mini aussies. Few spots with steeper terrain but nothing bad.

Would do again!

Easy nice trail to enjoy with non hiking family members on a drive though the cascades.

Beautiful hike. Steep climbing in places but nice sweeping views of the valley and lake. Well maintained and easy to follow trail.

great hike, great trail, great views. Lots of hungry bugs.

Easy paved trail. The alpine lake and waterfalls are absolutely stunning.

Overall great hike! Come prepared

Went all the way to Cutthroat Pass today 7/5. The trail is in excellent summer shape. It was mud and snow free until about a 1/3 mile from the pass. At that point there were just a handful of snow patches here and there that were easy to navigate through or around. There is a larger snow field right below the pass that obscured the last little bit of trail but it was easy to navigate. Really beautiful views the whole way but the view from the top is truly incredible-360 degrees of mountains and alpine lakes. A must do in the North Cascades for sure.

Also of note, the total mileage is a little over 11 miles.

Unfortunately getting past the lake up to the pass would be really difficult right now- all mud and snow beyond the lake. However, the 2.5or so miles to the lake are breathtaking. BTW yesterday we lost a brown zippered glasses case holding prescription eyeglasses out of our pack on this trail. Any info? Call 206-419-4105

Nice trail, lots of steady incline. Saw a heard of open range mules. Took north loop at green gates. Great views. If go to summit 360 degree views. Summit I s estimated. .25-.50 add on each way. Well worth it. Took us 2 hrs 40 slow pace lots of stopping for photos. See other reviews for parking. It will be hot if the sun is out.

Beautiful views of surrounding Methow valley, completed in mid-June. No snow. Easy mountain summit. Even though the peak is lower elevation, you still get great views of the Cascade range and the surrounding valley. Took under two hours with water breaks and pictures.

It was a beautiful hike. There were different kinds of wildflowers and birds. There were only a few muddy spots on the trail that were easy to navigate. The view of the lake and the valley were beautiful.

Beautiful views. Half of the loop was pretty unpleasant with some deeper snow getting in to my boots. The summit was amazing. The view of Patterson Lake was beautiful from up high. A few hikers on the trail, very quiet.

An easy addition to the Maple Pass hike. The lake is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area.

I combined this with Maple Pass and Rainy Lake as well to make a nice day hike. Easy hike to Lake Ann, perfect for families with kids. Plenty of shade and a great place to eat lunch at Lake Ann. When I was there, there were dozens of jumping fish at the lake who would literally jump out of the water, even just a few feet off shore! Maybe 5 inches or so long. Not sure what fish they are but they certainly put on a show when I was eating my sandwich!

An awesome trail! The larches are in full swing! There is definitely snow on the last third of the trail, but it's still okay for hiking, even without spikes or poles.

my friends and i were aiming to go to the maple loop pass. got to the top of this trail to realize we were on the wrong one! but no regrets because the view is absolutely gorgeous. we were able to go up a steady pace and views while walking plus wildflowers made it a really nice experience.
