Easy to get into, road was a little rocky getting to the trail head but not terrible. Great views begin about an hour into the hike. Gradual incline on a pretty smooth dirt path for the most part, which was really nice, but definitely gives you a good workout. Took us about 2 hours to make it to the top where we had a great sunrise view of Wenatchee, Mt. Rainier, Cashmere, and the cascades. We did a sunrise hike so it was a little chilly but once we got moving we started to remove layers. The walk down took us an hour to get down. My phone said we walked about 6.6 miles, but it could've been wrong.

Beautiful views from the top

I started this hike in the clockwise fashion and that put the steepest part of the hike first. At the one mile marker there is a cattle gate you have to open to get through. At 1.3 miles you’ll come to a junction and there’s an open well, be careful not to fall in! Once I got to Dry Gulch Road I saw multiple signs that the rest of this hike was closed so I just followed the road back to the TH. All in all I did 3.6 miles with 1,085 ft of elevation and it took me almost 2hrs due to the multiple stops in the first mile. Beautiful fall day, clear blue skies, gentle breeze, but it is a high desert landscape, not my favorite.

If you're looking for a close to town, family friendly hike that displays beautiful fall colors, this is the hike to do! The Larch trees are bright yellow and the lakes (although low on water) are still blue/green and beginning to freeze over. I would definitely recommend doing this hike soon before the Larch drop their needles and snow covers the trail.

love the hike. Great way to really start building your endurance.

Close in town, but in an hour or two of walking, you are surrounded by beautiful views in the feel of the wilderness. Loved it.

Very easy, short hike small incline just enough to start to feel a burn. For beginners short but sweet.

Good views of Wenatchee, fairly easy hike. No shade, bring water.

This hike is nice until about two miles in. Then the trail disappears and there are hills of loose rocks to climb over. We tried, but got tired of scrambling over rocks and not knowing if or when we’d see a trail again.

Our car was broken into while we were on the trail. We had nothing valuable in the car and they got nothing out of it but bad karma on themselves. There were also swarms of bees in the parking area that stung someone in our group. No mosquitoes on our hike on a warm dry summer afternoon. Pleasant hike, steep for the most part and moderated towards the end. The lake was small by the standards in the region but still beautiful and serene.

This is by far my favorite local hike for families. The road up to the trail head is well maintained, and the trail head is easy to find with plenty of parking. There are no restrooms, however. The trail starts out reasonably steep, but manageable for most age groups. The trail is wide, and there are no steep drop offs along the way that worry me with a 3 year old. The trail is lovely, and peaceful. Lakes Clara and Marion are beautiful. The trail is shaded for a lot of the hike, but it can still get quite warm in the middle of the day, so we prefer to go early. The mosquitos are thick, and you will absolutely need a good bug spray- no exceptions.

This is a great family hike. It's steep enough you'll get a work out, but short enough you can take the kids. The view at the top is beautiful, but this is also where the trail gets a little rougher for the kids. There are additional trails at the top you can follow to extend your hike, if you choose. There is little shade, so go when it's cool outside.

This is a great, short family hike. The first part of the trail is quite easy, and there are some good view points along the way. There's no shade, so go when it's cool out. I wouldn't attempt to loop around the "castle rock" at the top without some hiking experience, and a decent shoe. Definitely don't plan on taking kids around the top, it gets challenging in a hurry.

It had steep trails and was primarily shaded. The steep hike was worth it once we reached the lakes.

Honestly this trail is so easy. But I work out and I hike. If you don’t work out it might be moderate. The last scramble to the top of the rock might be a little tough but that’s it. The view is nice. But I would not consider this to be a “hike” more of a leisure inclined walk I guess

Great hike! Beautiful views of the Columbia river. Not to hard but will definitely get your heart rate going! My 6 year old and I make it to the top every time! We love it as a weekly hiking route!

Gorgeous trail. You get steep rock climbing, meadows, fields, desert and the best part was 6 huge bucks in velvet at the top!

Nice hike. you can continue to explore on which I believe connects you to the beehive trail.

honestly I give this hike a 5 star rating. I do agree that it ducks about the mosquitoes but it's nature! what do you expect? easy hike for anyone no matter the hiking experience in my opinion. beautiful view of the lakes. I went about two weeks ago on the 24th and the weather was just perfect. definitely recommend this if you want a nice easy hike. Little steep at the beginning but it does get a bit better.

Nice hike though quite steep in some areas. Excellent bathroom situation at the trailhead. Also there is a convenient drinking fountain to collect water.

I took my daughter and two of her friends (inexperienced backpackers) as well as two dogs. The hike in was very nice. The lake(s) are very beautiful. The campsite is nice as it overlooks the lake. We say a couple of people on day hikes, but otherwise we had the run of the place. I can't say enough how thick the mosquitoes were. They did go away after the sun went down, but otherwise they were thick and aggressive. Sometimes I would get a mouth full of them. I found myself covered in spray as well as layered up with anything that covered skin. I would give it 5 stars but for the bugs.
