Wauna, Washington Map

The walk itself was quite meh, between the dense under growth and the trail being sandwiched between private properties with a few unkempt. There are a bunch of private property no trespassing signs. Judging from the reviews the trail now has about 3+ years of overgrowth with dense under growth and is on the verge of disappearing. I would judge it 75% moderate to severe over grown. Would need a sturdy hedge trimmer to clear it up at this point.

You will pass a largish open swamp on the left about halfway. But the trail opens up and becomes enjoyable after passing the stream that drains Koenemann Lake. You come to a jeep width access road, turn right to go down to the lake. Turning left takes you up a hill to a gate and private property signs, so the other trail that is depicted by zooming in a little on AllTrails is not accessible. The lake is very nice and worth the hike, and is the only reason I could give it 3 stars. We saw a (i looked it up) kettle of 8+ bald eagles flying around, neato.

I hiked this trail today. It meanders through a nice forested area, passing small farms, and a large pond, before crossing a creek, and circling up around to the lake ! It’s says koeneman lake trail, but Google calls it fern lake!

The hike involved walking behind other peoples yards, but after you past their "landfills" the walk gets a lot more pleasant. The trail was a bit over grown at parts, but in my option the lake view was worth it. I went with my dog and we just sat in the shore basking in the tranquility.

Trail was very overgrown. Okay views, nothing too spectacular.

Do not stop at the first lake. This isn't the actual destination and it totally sucks. The actual lake is a little further ahead. Much more scenic. The hike itself is very easy as well.

Overall very disappointed. Wanted a nice hike with a beautiful view and ended up with a horrible walk trough the woods to a "lake" which looked like a pond. The trail was overgrown and unmaintained and hard to follow. To the left was residential area and the right was chopped down forrest. Very disappointed and do not recommend visiting!

Cool little hike. Never seen anyone else out there which is nice. Can see the olympics too at points.

A little overgrown in places, this was a fun and fairly easy hike for me and my 9 y.o. The first lake, with lots of tree stumps and lily pads, you pass is not the end so keep going over the little stream/dam and continue to the end.

A little overgrown and narrow but not too bad. Great for older kids.

fun hike. beautiful serene lake at the end with a rope swing. lol...but just for swinging over the lake. wouldn't step a toe in the lake as there is downed trees and bricks in the water.

This Trail I will never walk again. it's very misleading and it was overgrown with brush. I walked part way and turned around. Overall I walked .93 through and back. This Trail should be abandoned. Closed down. Sorry I give it thumbs down.

We went to do a hike on 2/28/15 and to our disappointment the trail is closed due to dangerous logging.

A nice easy trail, although there has been zero to no maintenance on this trail. Narrow path, overgrown with misleading game trails and off chutes if it were to get thoroughly cleaned up it would be a smooth trail for those not wanting to go across the bridge to hike but not all the way out in Belfair either.

Found the trail head. Right off a busy highway tho. Not for strollers at all. Trail not well kept.....very narrow and overgrown. Didn't make it far. Would be ok without kids. Lake was on the other side of the road too

I looked everywhere but I couldn't find the trail. Perhaps the sign is gone.

The trail head is located on Wright Bliss Rd across from Carney Lake at the Pierce/Kitsap boundary line. It took about 30-40 minutes to hike each direction. The trail was narrow at places with a mixture of moderate uphills and downhills.
