Great mellow trail, good for trail runs and biking. Glass all over the trail, bring good shoes!

Beach walk.
Ck tide tables.
Be prepared to climb over wet logs.
Bring a bag to pick up trash.
There are always Harbor seals, last time saw at least 30. Plan on 3 hrs.

I have a toddler. So anything that keeps the little entertained and outdoors is great! this trail has cute little signs to read and learn about planets and animals. Has a pond with a bridge that is fun with the kids!

We almost didn't go on this hike based in all the reports about tweakers- but if you know the area, it is what it is.

That said, we didn't see any tweakers on our entire hike... There was however broken glass Everywhere throughout the trails (do not take little kids or dogs!!). There are also multiple spots where kids have drawn (fake) satanic symbols on trees and saw a couple trees burned (with these symbols). Again- you could tell it was just teenagers, but still, not all the pleasant nature views you want.

There was a young woman and her dog leaving as we arrived that warned us about a drunk guy by the river spouting stuff off that made her uncomfortable & leave, but we never crossed his path thankfully.

Overall it was a decent hike- but don't go alone & I doubt I will do it again.

Nice, easy hike with great views and wildlife. My dog loves it and it’s always a good trip.

Spectacular views. Easy run. Not crowded early in the morning and Lots of wildlife. I definitely recommend.

Such beautiful scenery!! Absolutely love this walk. The looped walk has small hills that leads into a couple big hills (depending which way you go, you could be going up or down these hills). If you’re going up the hills, there’s a park up at the top and they have a water fountain and dog water area. Also, a few places to take some amazing photos. Right off the loop walk, there is also a bridge where you can put a lock on. And a body of water that is so pretty, where my kids love to look for crabs.

We walk this park a few times a week. Never noticed any homeless people? It was never completely closed, and is now open. Beach access is great, except at high tide. The trails are well maintained. Pond is full of ducks, and the occasional Heron. We’ve even seen an otter there! Playground always full of kids. 2 clean bathrooms.
It’s a great place!

This is such a beautiful trail to run. You can tell though that there are so homeless people who live in there but they didn’t bug us during our run or anything. There wasn’t anything about it being closed during though.

Great trail along the creek. Some pretty good inclined but manageable. Didn’t have time to do the whole thing but will hike again.

This is one of my favorite hikes. Its family and dog friendly and you can see see seals, eagles, and sea-life like sea stars and sea squirts that can spit water up several feet!
Make sure to go during low tide or you’ll have to scramble over fallen trees. Waterproof shoes are nice to have but optional. If you climb a steep cliff at the end of the hike you’ll arrive at point defiance dog park but it is very steep so be very cautious!

Nice little trail following the river! Scetchy parking lot, but that is just part of Tacoma! Once you get passed that it is a fun adventure! Could have been a quiet relaxing walk enjoying the soothing sound of the river, except that I had 6 and 8 year old boys narrating their adventure! It was sad to see so much trash about, but otherwise well maintained walk ways.

I was going to try the trail with my dog despite the tweakers in the parking lot but the trail is closed until sept 15th! Maybe next summer I’ll try again.

Cigarette butts and broken glass everywhere, Will never go back!!!

Had an amazing time doing this trail. It did take me a long time to find the start line but well worth it. It did rain on our parade but it felt amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

One of the most beautiful walks you’ll ever do!! So many amazing and lucky views!!! Usually walk it at least twice a week and it never gets old. Fairly easy a couple heart pumping mini hills but nothing major.

tweakers living in their cars in the parking lot, the trail was nice once you get allot further in and pass the tweakerdom of the beginning of the place.

It is an easy hiking trail. You can run.

Ok...There are drug users and homeless in the parking lot. Some garbage about. But...boy, Its so well worth walking past them. I felt that being armed would be appropriate. Husband and I took our dogs for an hour walk one direction thru an enchanting creek with gentle ankle deep water, and stunning trees and vegetation. We stuck to the creek, and didn’t take the trail. It was so very pretty, the dogs loved it. There is a small, clean lake where the trail starts. No drug users past the parking lot...a guy was puking in the parking lot next to our vehicle when we returned. Welcome to Swan Creek!

Easy way to locate the perfect trails and parks even before you have visited what nature has to offer to us in a wide variety of ways.

Nice trail. Wish it was better marked. Huge hill on an off shoot trail towards the end that the kids had fun racing up!

Nice easy, flat walking trail. Beautiful creek with logs to cross. We had fun on the many off shoot trails, but the trail itself is not marked so it's easy to get turned around in there but as long as you stay on a trail you will find your way out because the trail head is also the exit. It definitely is like a "maze" as another hiker noted in their remarks. We did see a spot where it looked like someone transient had been staying out there.

I loved this one! My 10 year old and myself enjoyed it very much. The view is incredible! Take water and allow 1 hour to walk it. It’s worth it. What a great memory for both of us!

Didn’t even get out of my car. The garbage, spray painting and the guy living out of his van was enough for me. I did a u turn and went to another park.

Great early morning hike before all the zoo-goers take up parking. You get to see beautiful mossy trees and the sound. You can also stop by the park gardens and check out the flowers. Easy hike and would be great to take kids to.

When did it close? This is still a great place for a short beach hike and not too bad for city goers. As for the homeless people, they are everywhere in Tacoma, so if you have issues-probably not a good pick. This hike is better than Point Defiance when it's open in my opinion.
