Amazing

Gorgeous views! A little slippery in spots but not too bad considering it was rainy. Kinda brutal, uphill alllll the way.

Don't take Berger Rd! It's terrifying!

Great introductory hike for a newbie. Not saying it was a breeze - my legs definitely felt the up and back but due to moderate length well accessible to all with the right shoes (I had tennis sneakers which were not ideal!) Anyway this walk has now got me up for more - !

Nice hike and views on a clear day! Amazing two guys built this in 3 yrs. The hired technical guy was buried in the little cemetery east of the rock, left on hot springs rd for the rest of the story.

Had some steep hills, a bit slippery with the wet leaves and dirt! Gorgeous trail and views!

Extremely steep most of the way up but the views at the top are worth it! Didn’t see anyone else on the trail and it was a beautiful clear day.

Great intermediate hike! The trail isn’t clearly marked but it didn’t take long to find. Look for a few steps that start going up and you’ll get to an information board at the beginning of the hike. I love hiking trails that aren’t super crowded and this was it. Came across 2 people on the trail. My dog and I both thoroughly enjoyed this hike! Beautiful trail and beautiful lake. I drove up from battle Ground and drove home down to the gorge making the full loop. Both directions to the trailhead were clear and easy to drive on. Coming from battle Ground, the last 8 miles is gravel but it isn’t too rough.

Beautiful view at the top and short hike.

Pretty cool hike! Not for the faint of heart. My friend didn't make it to the top for her fear of heights :( However, it was rainy and she didn't have very stable shoes on. There are some spots that have great lookouts even better than the very top. So if you are nervous, you will still see some amazing views even if you don't go all the away up.

I'm afraid of heights but due to other Hikers, they helped me overcome. There are rails to hold on to as you go up the path if you need to sturdy yourself. I was grateful for such a trail to allow a novice like myself to enjoy the view. The trail kind of wraps around the Rock and one spot was just a little too much on the edge for me. But the value of the many Hikers worked perfect for me as an encouragement. Beautiful sights the whole way!

Beautiful Fall colors going on right now! We only saw one other group today. It was not only beautiful, but very quiet. We will definitely be back.

This was my first hike and I would not classify this trail as easy. Beautiful hike.

Nice hike in the remoteness of Indian heaven wilderness. Not a tough hike per se but gradually goes up hill most of the way. Can scramble to summit with a little bit of finesse without much difficulty if you’re sure footed. Not a hard trail to find with trail labeled.

First hammock camping trip. Tough climb to the lake. No bugs. Dry on the way up, but rained all night and on hike out. Saw fish caught. Probably swimmable with hot weather.
5 or 6 groups of day hikers but only one other overnighter at the lake.
Lots of day hikers with dogs on the lower, first section of the trail.

Challenging for this beginner but well worth it. Such a breathtaking view!

We stopped at the peak before Dog Mountains peak. Thank goodness! No 360 degree view, but some great views. Out and back to Dog Mountain peak would have added 2 miles and an hour to our trip. We didn’t start early enough for that.

Love this trail! Peaceful and beautiful

The hike was indeed difficult but also beautiful! Just ask our two huskies who are both super tuckered out. I was very surprised by the amount of poison oak on the sides of the trail. Hoping we avoided it well enough. We are hoping to come back in the spring for the wild flowers!

Short but steep. Incredible views at the top and very windy. Rocky at times

I found my way back to this trail recently. Planning s return for overnight stay!!

Awesome trail! Beautiful views. Steep enough to be a decent workout. Be careful at the top, I heard some rattlesnakes nesting in the rocks!

Agree with Thomas Phillips. Hiked this trail 9/2017 and still remember the horror: steep grades, viewless, waterless, hot, and so seldom traveled there were spider webs across the trail so thick we had to hike while beating them away with sticks for a large majority of the time. On the way down the grade was so steep multiple people in my party fell, and then someone stepped on a hornet's nest & I got stung 6 times. Could have been worth the effort if there was ANY destination. But nothing - not a single area where we could stop and take in the elevation gain. Hikers below who praise the waterfalls have it a bit wrong - the waterfalls are technically on the Siouxon Trail; there are no waterfalls ON Horseshoe Ridge Trail. FYI people in my party are late 20s moderately athletic and most of us are not faint-hearted.

Love Beacon Rock, it’s in our “backyard” and we grew up hiking it many times. We took our kids for the first time last week. It’s straight up via switch backs all the way up, but there are many viewing points where you could stop for a rest. (Our five year old complained quite a bit and wanted frequent rests). The top viewing area is very small, not many people will fit together up there. But it’s worth the hike for the view! And the downhill is fairly easy. Love that there are restrooms at the trailhead. You will need a Discover Pass to park here.

great hike virtually no mosquitoes a little smoke in the air but overall it was a great day to hike and the lake is fantastic.

Take a capable vehicle to this trailhead. I repeat; take a capable vehicle to this trailhead.
I took a Prius. I thought for sure I was going to wreck my Prius getting there. The road is so bad in places that it looks like a motocross track.
Expect 10ish miles of uneven, overgrown, single lane, gravel roads-- with countless supersize potholes.
By the time I made it to the TH, I noticed a storm rolling in so I got back in my car and left. I didn't even get to do the hike. There was no way I wanted to try driving that road when it's wet and muddy.
The hike seemed lovely. Maybe I'll be back one day when I buy a different car.

This is one of the shortest hikes I've done that still gives you high-up Gorge views. If you exercise regularly, it's an easy climb. The trail did get fairly crowded with families around 11 am (I went on a Friday), so go early or during the week if you don't want to be passing someone on every switchback.
