Easy and short hike up to the top, but surprised more people haven’t talked about the heights! I’ve hiked well over 30 trails in the Oregon/Washington area, and this is one of the few that actually made me nervous on my way to the top! There are guard rails, but it’s just wide open to the side of the rock as you ascend. Worth it for the views at the top!

A nice, easy walk, can be a little muddy.

Great walk! The gorge winds made it an epic climb up the switchbacks. Totally worth going to the top.

A nice, easy walk through the woods with some gentle changes in elevation and good viewpoints.

This trail is popular, so I would recommend hiking on weekdays. It’s the perfect amount of challenging climbs with gradual trails, throughout many different types of geography. Totally worth it for the view—though the best views are just before the summit (I would say). Wear proper hiking footwear!

This trail had some amazing views at the top. The elevation gain is about 1300 ft in 1.4 miles but the struggle is worth it. It is also pretty busy on the weekends but a perfect place for a little picnic on the summit.

I'm sure it's fantastic... I was prepared for some snow traverse on the trail, but what I didn't expect was for the snow traverse. AWD SUV, and I decided I had better turn it around on the single lane fire road with about 13 miles to go. A couple vehicles had previously passed and left a hard pack, but the snow was up to a foot in some places. No-go for this pretend SUV.

One of the best hikes in the gorge. Uphill but easy.

I have been up this trail several times. I would consider this more of a gateway trail to Mt. Adams. It offers nice views up the Cascade Creek drainage and the Salt Creek Drainage. Graveyard Camp used to be a junction for the trail to Looking Glass Lake, it seems that the US Forest Service decided that the cut across trail does not need to be there. the sign is gone and the route is not shown on newer maps. (or the maps I have). I have the benefit of owning Columbia National Forest map from 1940. It's a shame so much history is forgotten. This area used to have shelters and structures all over the area.

Great hike, I think it is definitely a new favorite. Lots of people on the portion to the waterfall, but hardly saw anyone up to the summit. Very muddy and a lot of snow, but it is well worth going through for the views.

Awesome views! The top is really not that great compare to the trek up the mountain! Try to go on any other day except for a weekend. This trail is highly trafficked.

Good workout. Great views. I did this during the summertime and it was breathtaking.

Not too difficult with big reward at the top!

great hike. awesome views

I called this morning and the trail is open again.

Really beautiful alternative with all the Oregon trail closures. The climb is not as bad as dog mountain

Accurate rating, as Moderate. Incline the whole way, but is a relatively quick ascent. Decent workout for a short time. Super rainy, and windy. No visibility at the top today. Eager to return on a clear sunny day. Beautiful trail, surrounded by tall pines.

Great views! Trail is reopen for hiking. Rock isn't open for climbing though.

Not kid friendly; but well worth the steep, heart pounding trip up. Feels otherworldly at the top, with fog and wind, almost like a microclimate. Lightly traveled so it feels remote and quiet, except for the winds at the top. It’s easy to see why native tribes considered this a spiritual place. Trail is narrow and rugged for the most part, but easy to navigate. Wish there were more viewpoints, but overall a great hike I’d definitely do again, maybe next time in clearer weather.

it was very interesting to see the two diffe ent forests. Grandson loved it

Don't take the trail at the parking area! You'll wind up climbing the mountain instead of hiking. Follow the road down a ways and the trailhead starts there. Beautiful views at the top and along the way.

I was literally stupefied by some of the views on this trail! It was well worth the effort to climb all the way to the top of the mountain- and it WAS effort. I’m pretty sure this trail deserves a ‘hard’ rating- but SO worth it.

It was a bit muddy, and very windy at the top but we we're lucky that the clouds broke so we could take in some of the view!

What a beautiful hike! A bit muddy but otherwise it was perfect.

***CLOSED*** This trail is currently closed due to damage caused by a fallen rock.

Nice rainy Sunday hike with family. Medium traffic, lots of dogs and friendly folks. The first stretch is a bit of a climb. Absolutely beautiful.

Steady incline but not hard. Views are fine but would not be my go to in the Gorge

Lots of bridges and great waterfall views. Well maintained. Very popular trail. Many hikers with dogs.

Hiked on 01/14/18. Did the whole loop after dark.

Slightly taxing on leisure explorers yet had spectacular views once the overlook was reached. Narrow switchbacks with wide shoulders for photo opportunities or resting provided. Great for canine companions as well as children!
Note: Part of the guard rail damaged with other areas feeling loose.
