I walked this loop from Kendall Yards to Sandifur Memorial Bridge and then along the river, two weeks ago and yesterday. Yesterday the trail had snow/ ice because of the recent snow fall. But still not hard to walk around and enjoy the views. Two weeks ago I saw two bald eagles. Yesterday I saw a Magpie! Fun walk with views of Downtown on the way back.

The main trail is packed down, only requiring boots, but if you take the Emerald Necklace Loop around the peak, it gets deep and snow shoes are recommended. The main trail loop is not forged thru at the top. Most people look like they are doing out and back, from either side. Also, the parking lot is straight ahead on google maps; don’t turn right at the Antoine Conservancy sign.

A nice mellow trail from peaceful valley to people’s park and back

Walked 1/8 and things were just fine. Light snow had no impact. I like this trail almost year round.

Few down trees across the trail on the creek side but otherwise great snow shoe hike!

Definitely don’t do near night time in the winter super slippery and very scary

I’ve been on this trail a couple times. It’s pretty mellow so I decided to go off trail, up the hill to the right. If you’re looking for a fun place to scramble around rocks and downed trees, get off the beaten path and take in some amazing views, I highly recommend this place. Looking forward to coming back.

Nice and easy/moderate hike today. The shaded higher areas were pretty icy. Still nice place and beautiful views

Great day for a hike. The trail was icy and I would recommend wearing Yak Trax and staying off to the side. Quite a few people out. Saw people on horseback and even a mountain bike. Pretty amazing for this time of year. The south side loop coming down wasn’t as icy.

Easy and beautiful hike along the river. Can get really busy. Must have pass.
