A really good off road hike! Trails overgrown but good, only got off course once. Quite a bit of bugs. They have trash cans out there, and for the most part people pack it out.

Really cool and diverse area for all sorts of activities. Hiking, mountain biking. and rock climbing. The first part of this is not well marked at all, hence the 4 stars.

Great hike with a steady climb. If you start out by going to clockwise, you will have a pretty good incline to go up. Lots of shade and good views.

HikingGreat!

I don't know who did the original recording but it's way off. This trail is closer to 5.5 miles. Even so, it was a great hike. The first couple miles is almost all uphill which I wasn't expecting, I guess I should have looked at the elevation gain in the app. Beautiful views and vista's though. I loved it and can't wait to go again. I will say that the creek could barely be called a creek. It was very very small and seemed to have only a small rivulet of water flowing down it.

Hiking

Love this intense hike! Depends on the way you go. Daughter loved the intensity too and wants to go back. In her teen words, "I hate it, but I love it." Loaded my recording if you're interested in which way to go or not go. Use bug spray and you'll have no problems. We took the really intense path. The trail seemed to be a water runoff trail and was not level, but it is totally fine if you like a challenge. The trail had long crevices (again from water runoff) for a large portion of it on the uphill. Definitely moderate with the steeper incline. Trail is narrow and you hit bushes a lot. One tree down at the top but it was easy to get over it. I have the app, but I would take a map since there are no trail markers that we could see anywhere. I wish I would've worn some lederhosen!! No one else on the trail. It was great! I got to yodel like a Swiss man and annoy my teenage daughter! I HEARD MY YODELING ECHO!!!!! IT WAS UH-MAZING!! Then I whipped out my variation on "the hills are alive with the sound of music". My daughter tolerated me, but hey, I had fun. I imagine the wildlife in the area were uplifted.

So awesome this time around. Have been to the falls a couple times but took a more adventurous route this time. Highly recommended.

7/5/2020 - Beacon has been one of my favorite local places to hike and trail run since 2001. I love running the switchbacks down the back of Beacon and going to the left and connecting into Camp Sekani trails. Watch for bikes... suggest only 1 ear bud if listening to something. The view at the top gives you a panoramic view from the valley to Mead.

7/4/2020 - Excellent day for a hike/trail run. such beautiful views. Ran down to Steven's Creek trailhead. there is no trail information on the trailhead board, so I just backtracked up the trail I just came down. was hoping there was a connecting trail that would allow me to loop. still absolutely beautiful and peaceful hike/run.

Love this hike! It is my go-to hike in this area. So far it still reigns as my daughter's favorite too.

Mystic Falls in Indian Canyon Falls trail - This was one of the best waterfall family hikes we have done in Spokane. What a great adventure to just get lost and find an obstacle course leading to this secret waterfall and cave! Is was great scavenger hunt really. There were red arrow markings leading down to the hideaway trail and you cross through water, logs and hop on rocks...it’s awesome! There are two ways to get there. We headed straight, but then took a quick right. Then we walked downhill a bit and got to an open hideaway. The cave was a real treat for the kids.

The ridge overlooking the hwy 195 valley is breathtaking! This is a beautiful and peaceful trail. My favorite time is early morning when most of the trail is shaded but the valley is lit up!

I probably will not do this hike again. Trails were poorly marked halfway through and near the end. My fitness watch also says I hiked nearly nine miles, not 7.7, so All Trails may have the distance incorrect. I'm glad I went at 730am rather than midday or afternoon because I probably would have passed out on the trail. I did get to cross paths with a young snake about half a mile from the parking lot on the way back down! that was neat. it wasn't a viper so most likely a garter snake or something.
