Great views. Quite a few stairs. Wagon road trail will also get you to the falls with different views (forest vs rivers) but when coming back to the parking lot seemed easier so maybe doing the loop the opposite way (wagon road to the falls and the franklin falls back to the car) would be easier for someone with any knee issues.

STUNNING views of Mount Rainier and beautiful mountain peaks on a blue-sky day!! This trail has it all: switchbacks through the forest, little mountain streams/waterfalls, wildflowers, rock fields, snow fields, and breathtaking views. Bug spray with high % of deet will keep the bugs away.

Pretty lake. Easy hike, lots of roots but the trail is easy to follow.

Spectacular view of the lake and a nice workout. 1hr 45 min up to overlook (3+mi) and 1hr 20 min down. Lots of bugs. I wore bug spray and still got a couple of bites. I didn’t see a bathroom. Will definitely go again and head down to the lake next time.

The last mile is brutal.

Great hike as always!!! A lot of bugs this time , don’t stop or you will get bit. 7/17/18

Last bit of snow still clinging to the peaks but the sunny weekend led to amazing views. Last 1/3 of the hike is a pretty intense loose rock trail culminating in a bit of a scramble but it was worth it!

Yes, just go! Take your whole family. It will be worth it. Parking is 5$ cash.

Great trail, and so close to home. Lots of wildflowers blooming, and you hear the sound of waterfalls almost all the way. Look for numerous waterfalls from snow runoff on the adjacent mountains. Not too much sun beating down; a lot of shady areas. A bit buggy, wear bug repellent if needed. Not too hard a hike for this nearly 64 year old, but definitely a workout. Make it to the lake and the reward is the view of the lake that still has ice in it

Bugs are out! I had different bees follow me for most of my hike. Mosquitos are bad in the higher elevations as well due to the snow melt. Beautiful hike but I wish I had worn a bug net on my head or bug repellant. I stopped to take a picture and had 4 mosquitos on my arm! lol. Lots of poison ivy in the lower elevations. If you're allergic to it definitely wear long pants and long sleeves.

This is a short but pretty steep hike to two Beutiful lakes. The trail is well marked. Parking was a little challenging as there were quite a lot of cars around 11:00 AM. There were a lot of people in the lake but we managed to find a spot and swim a little. Crocks would have been helpful as there are stones on the bottom of the lake and it's pretty painful to step on them. Bugs were terrible and they seemed impervious to our bug spray.

Beautiful view, hot! BUGS!! BUGS!
Few snow on the ground!! But it’s worth it

One of my favorites of the pass... offers quite a bit of variety and steep terrain. Best part is that it is very lightly travelled, the Alpental parking lot is typically full but that is all for Snow Lake. Only a handful goes for the Snowqualmie Mountain / Guye Peak trail.

Amazing! Great hike to go on after leg day at the gym ;) awesome couples hike

Great for little kids. Trail is well kept. Parking can be a challenge even during the weekdays.

Nice hike! The rocks on the switchback can be kind of difficult to maneuver if you’re not wearing boots. Lots of people were wearing tennis shoes but I wouldn’t recommend it - especially since there’s still snow on the trail to the lake that’s pretty slippery. Come early to beat the crowds.

Beautiful hike. Lots of little streams and cool looking tree stumps. The hike in was mostly up hill.

We did this hike after Denny Creek Trail and when comparing the 2 trails, made this one feel so much easier. It took 1.5 hours to the top and decided not to do the hike down to the lake - it was pretty snowy/muddy and we didn't have the right hiking shoes on. It probably would've taken another hour out and back to lake if we wanted to go. The peak of this trail provides amazing views of Snow Lake

Okkkkk . . Need help . . We did not summit. Went to Melakwa Lake. There is boot path on the west side of Melakwa and on the east side of Upper Melakwa and it continues up the valley to the right shoulder of Kaleetan Peak. Couple of questions . . Is there another boot path that approaches the peak from the west side? If so, was it by the “toilet” Sign just before you get to Melakwa Lake? Anddd . . Is there a boot path to the summit going up the valley past Upper Melakwa Lake? We got to 5,220 ft at the eastern base of Kaleetan and turned around. See pic. Wildflowers are out . .I don’t think this trail has a great deal of wildflowers. Crazy scenic hike . . Highly recommend it. Snowshoe Falls along with Melakwa and Upper Melakwa Lake. There are No directional signs at Melakwa Lake. Very easy to get “lost.”

Very pretty home, forest pass required.
The snow on the lake is starting to melt.

Beautiful trail during great weather!

Trail was in good condtion and directions on All trails lead you straight to the parking lot.
My dog and i were 2.0 miles in when we came across a middle aged couple and there pit mix. we were on a leash and gave them room to pass. Their dog was not on a leash and without hesitation came straight at us and attacked my dog. He ended up biting a quarter sized hole out of my dogs chest.
I had to pull their dog off as they watched, i wanted to chuck that POS down the hill. Luckily my 115lb mastiff is friendly and didnt attach the 40lb dog back. The couple was real appologetic and i they gave me all there information for any vet fees. People, dont be naive and think your dog is always wonderful like they said, strict leash laws are to protect everyone on the trail.
We plan to try this hike again in the future.

Nice hike. Lots of people on a Sunday. Go early to beat the crowd. The trail is mostly rocky. There was no snow till the view point. Some snow on the trail if you go further for lake access.

This is a great trail for a day hike, goes up to 4,300 feet at mirror lake. The PCT cuts through the top of the trail and there is a great overlook if you go halfway around mirror lake and down the trail by the creek. Lots of mossy trees and shady cover from the canopy.

Last mile is super steep but the rest is just a steady uphill. Beautiful views!
