HikingGreat!

Found a pair of jabree wireless headphones, left them at the start of the trail under one of the overhang signs. Also there was no road closure today

Extremely beautiful! Very ancient moss-draped forest with streams and waterfalls. Not too steep but challenging enough in hot weather. Well shaded and well maintained path.

Not as wet and “rainforest” like as we were wanting. Beautiful old growth and moss though!

First to Review

For a primitive trail it was in really great shape. Saw 20 bear!

Another great backpacking trip with some friends for Labor Day weekend. Weather was beautiful made it to Moonshine Flats with our heavy load in 4 hours, during our hike about 2.5 miles in or so there was a yellow jackets nest on the ground next to the trail so beware of that. Lots of other bugs too. The next morning we woke early to see the beautiful sunrise at the top of Colonel Bob. There was no visible sign of the Elk carcass on the way to the top. Last day, our trek back down took us about 2 hours with trekking poles (highly recommended for going back down) & lots of water unless you have a water filter, you can refill down by the creek @ Moonshine flats All in all it was a great trail to hike.

Well-maintained trail. Mostly in the shade. A perfect walk for our first afternoon on the Olympic Peninsula.

Not what we expected as far as "lake" Irely goes...disappointing, to say the least. It's a big swamp. Had to cross a pretty deep creek to get there that really should have a bridge over it...bring extra shoes to change out of wet ones. I'd not recommend this one.

Nice easy hike with beautiful ferns, mossy trees, waterfalls, huge trees and some of the largest mushrooms I've ever seen.

Did this as a day hike, pretty brutal but rewarding. A little overgrown in some areas on the way up but not too bad. Stopped to check out all the various types of mushrooms and munch on the variety of wild berries, sooooo good. Probably better for backpacking but possible as a full day hike.

Not too busy for a Friday morning. Most folks wore masks. Trail was clear and dry.

HikingBugsGreat!Muddy

A nicely maintained trail with a few stretches of strenuous climbing and downhill navigation through muddy water streams. We only hiked up to the O’Neil Creek campground, which was marked as 6.5 mi on the trailhead but AllTrails recorded closer to 15mi for the out and back journey so be prepared to push a little further than expected. However once we arrived we were able to sit down and have a nice lunch by the river before heading back. Bugs were a minor irritation along the way but manageable. Be mindful of animal droppings on the trail. Views from both Pony Bridge and Graves Creek Bridge are impressive! Would love to return and make it all the way to Enchanted Valley as a multi-day overnight trip.
