We took a group of kids ages 3 to 16 years and all had a wonderful time. I read mixed reviews on whether we would find beach glass or not. We did find a good amount of smaller pieces which the kids LOVED collecting as well as several dime and quarter sized pieces. They also found numerous cool rocks. We found crabs and sea anemones as well as saw several bald eagles.

We did not do the entire length because the tide started coming in. Be very careful on timing it with the tide as it comes in fast and there are steep cliffs which would be impossible to climb with small ones. There are alot of loose rocks which your forced to walk once the tide comes in which slows the return a bit.

When the tides get higher it is difficult to go through a couple parts. Great walk. Long but not too long. Will be going back. Wear good shoes for uneven walking.

Great trail for the family. Including the four legged members

Nice beach. Easy walk.

Great place to walk on the beach. Many houses very close to the beach. A lot of kelp in low tide. You can park at the North Beach County Park parking lot.

A pleasant, easy walk on the beach leading to the lighthouse. A good place to kayak and sail. Discover Pass needed to park.

Boring walk, very heavily trafficked. Not for the weak ankle. It’s mainly rock, and unsteady sand. Not much for beach glass if you’re just looking. Saw tons of people digging though! Spent the entire time with my head down so I didn’t trip on the rocks, but did see 2 eagles and a sea lion.

on Glass Beach

Beautiful and somewhat easy hike that ended up being 6.9 miles roundtrip. Started about 7am and had the whole beach to our selves until about 11 o'clock. You need to time it right with the tide so you don't get pushed up to the bluffs. About halfway down there are some bigger rocks that made it a little strenuous but once you get to main beach it flattens out. It is hard to find larger sea glass, but once the sun comes up or the bluffs the beach starts to glisten with hundreds of ity bity tiny pieces of glass, of all different colors. Very beautiful hike!!

It was a nice kid friendly hike!

Cat Lake road is being extended and there are huge gravel trucks and bulldozers at work there. Currently I’d say it is impassible beyond the paved end.

I love this trail and have been walking it for years.

closed trail no longer open to public

inside fort Worden. this is a great area to walk around and explore but stop in somewhere to get a trail map and keep it with you.

pretty walk starting at the water going by paper mill but kind of boring. probably better with a bike. it's basically a wide flat walking path.

A peaceful, scenic walk between the Strait and the cliffs. If you plan on glass hunting make sure you plan around the tides and give yourself a lot of time. Not ideal for small children if you plan on making the trek all the way to the point and back.

What a way to see our beautiful surroundings! One surprise after another!

Small pieces of glass on a pebble and sand beach. Entrance of the park has port o'potties. Park has a pavilion and grassy area. Not a lot of parking spaces during peak times. Plan your search for glass around low tide. Both my kids, 13 and 10 years old enjoyed looking for glass.

the best part was happening upon Memory's Vault, an amazing complementary memorial to peace alongside the bunkers FROM late 19th Century and WWI. Memory's Vault is a stunning poetic art installation

Love this beach... beautiful view and lots of beach glass .

Great OP beach walk to an area containing large deposits of sea glass. Watch the tide charts as the beach is narrow at spots and bordered by a 75' plus bluff making it impassable at high tide. Be sure to give yourself enough time to return after collecting your sea glass.

Don't believe the map! The off-road trail along the west side of discovery bay isn't finished. But it'll ne great once it is completed!

Loop is a gated road. Double track seemed to be used by hikers, cyclists, and horses. Rather open but not much to see. Is posted as private property and no trespassing, but came across local that says the owner is ok with hikers. Nice walk to do once.

The map and trail depicted here are NOT the Cat Basin Primitive Trail. This is Cat Lake, an easy loop through lowland scrub forest on the Miller Peninsula, just south of Miller Peninsula State Park. The actual CAT BASIN PRIMITIVE TRAIL is located on the Appleton Pass Trail which is reached by going south on the Olympic Hot Springs Road, or by way of the Sol Duc River Trail to the Appleton Pass trailhead (5 miles from vehicle parking lot.

This is one of my favorite places to walk in Port Townsend. At this end, the trail runs along the shore for a little over a mile. Eagles, herons, otters & seals are often seen. In Spring, wildflowers put on a great show as do many species of nesting birds (swallows & goldfinch are my favorite). In fall, blackberries are abundant. There are also a naval munitions depot & a paper mill nearby to remind you this is not paradise.

I know this trail is super easy, flat, not much of a challenge. But it has some great scenery, nice wildlife and just a pleasant walk anytime of year.
