Beautiful and muddy!!

This was probably my favorite hike I've ever done! The forest was so whimsical. lots of foliage, mushrooms, waterfalls, and it's easy! don't forget to wear boots and bring an umbrella :)

Easy, pretty well maintained hiking trail. I went with my 60+ year old parents (who are relatively healthy but certainly not big adventurers) and they were okay. Overall an enjoyable experience

Well maintained trail, enjoyable, beautiful hike. Great Lake to stop and eat lunch, and watch deer and otters. It is a steep grade, little to no level areas, so it makes for a nice work out to get the blood pumping.

Incredibly simple trail down to a beautiful waterfall. A bit crowded due to the ease, but would still highly recommend because the waterfall it’s an atypical one.

Short and sweet was how someone described it and I agree. You walk on a cliff next to water so that was a fun surprise.

Nice easy trail. Loved the waterfall. Seeing it up close lets your really feel the magnitude of it.

This hike was my first introduction to the Olympics - WOW! So much to see all the way to the falls. Easy to extend your hike by taking one of the three trails that start just past the falls, which are far less crowded.

Continue past the falls on the trail for little to no crowds and absolute serenity in the forest. That was my favorite part; this place is magical.

insanely beautiful with wild orange mushrooms to one serine log cabin off off to the side of the trail. easy peasy

We started out early in the morning, had the whole trail to ourselves until the very end when a young couple caught up with us. Love the effort made to make the trail manageable with steps at the end. Have a bad knee but the trail was manageable and enjoyable especially in the beginning it was an easy stroll.

This was a nice easy hike that was pretty beautiful the whole way. The waterfalls were gorgeous. We went on 09/09 at like 10am. It was sort of a rainy day which maybe helped as there weren’t too many people. We actually had some time completely alone by the lookouts over the falls which doesn’t sound typical. On the drive in we stopped at the first pullout that had a bathroom. Ended up being a little path to a small waterfall overlook that was nice as well you should check out if you are in the area.

on Deer Lake Trail

Walk through the forest mostly on uphill run-off type path. Lake destination is okay; ate lunch sitting on the bridge right by the lake. Not spectacular views. Gain elevation so a bit of a work out. Nice warm-up hike for Mt Storm King the next day.

Magical hike through the rainforest. I never tire of how the light flickers in and out and highlights the beauty of these special woods.

Soo duc falls is beautiful! Once past the falls the crowd clears out. Deer lake hike is pretty w lots of up elevation gain. The lake is quiet and there is a nice place to have lunch. There is a privy up top too... very dark in there!
Would do this again!

Nice hike to Sol Duc Falls and then through the forest to the lake. Trail is a bit rocky but not too strenuous. There a are 3 relatively secluded campsites along Canyon Creek on your way up. Pretty crowed at the lake itself.

A short trip, nice in the evening.

easy, beautiful, but crowded.

Beautiful hike! Parking is limited, so arrive early. The trail is wide and well maintained to Sol Duc. Moderate to heavy traffic. Spectacular waterfall views. The trail beyond was a steady incline with intermittent views as you climb. We encountered a fair number of backpackers doing the Seven Basins Loop-it was perfect weather for it! Some loose rocks on the trail, so mind your step. We reached Deer Lake which was surreal and stopped for lunch. It's worthwhile to walk around the lake. The trail becomes a "primitive path" in parts but is still easy to navigate and well worth it. The climb back down to Sol Duc was quick.

Did this hike last week in the rain. Was still a great hike even in the rain. It was a bit crowded compared to some other trails, but a must do. Beautiful plants and trees during the hike. Nice waterfall at the end. Very easy hike.

We enjoyed this hike more than Sol Duc Falls, but only because it offered much more serenity than the extremely busy Sol Duc Falls trail. We also found that the trees and moss (things you’d associate with rainforest) were more impressive on this trail than Sol Duc Falls. With that said, Sol Duc Falls is still worth doing, it’s very beautiful itself and the waterfall/bridge combo at the end is great, but you’d be selling yourself short if you also didn’t stop and do this leisurely 20 minute stroll, it’s a great bang for your buck!

Probably would’ve given this 4 stars if it weren’t for the crowds. The trail is short and easy, so it’s hard to spread out from others, especially at the end. The trail is very pretty though, although we found the trail 7-8 miles before it off the road to be nicer just in terms of serenity as well the rainforest type scenery (the name escapes me).

Awesome trail with gorgeous views. We hiked at the beginning of July and there was still snow on the ground. Pretty cold at night but so worth it!

This is such a beautiful area. We loved wandering through the rainforest with our three kids: 6,4,2

easy short hike to beautiful falls, the mosquitos/flys were bad (use bug repellent or where long sleeves.) this is a very well maintained, very trafficked trail. visited during a Monday afternoon at the end of July and the trail / parking lot were packed.

This hike is amazing, we only saw one deer no goats or bears despite hiking out early. We camped at solduc Park, and clear lake.
There are ample water sources along the trail.
Trail is snow free.
Lakes are surprisingly warm this year.
The bugs are out, mosquitos were a nuisance, biting black flies were constant unless you were moving and the occasion deer and horse fly gave us a nasty bite.

haven

This place is magic. The old trees, the soft, mossy ground..... it’s beautiful. I could have spent the day just watching the light come through the canopy. We met a couple leaving as we were entering the short loop, but never saw anyone else. We arrived around 9:30 and the lighting was just gorgeous! The road is close by, but there was little traffic so the road noise didn’t ruin the magic. The drive off of 110 was pretty as well with lots of places to stop and hop around on rocks by the river. It’s worth the detour if you’re traveling along 110!

Perfect trail! It’s so peaceful and not many people around. We got married in the middle of the forest on this trail! Such a magical spot!
